Does anybody know if there is any delay in NVC acknowledging receipt of payments? I paid both (AOS and IV) this past Monday, but CEAC still shows "IN PROGRESS"....and both have gone through my bank already. Any help would be appreciated.

Form I-129F Questions

Hello all, my fiance and I have a few questions about the Form I-129F :(. They are related to writing down dates and addresses.

For pages 2 and 5, there are questions that refer to the petitioner and the beneficiary's start dates on the address history and employment history.

- Since my fiance and I have lived our life beyond 5 years in our current addresses, should we write the appropriate start date for that, even though it is beyond 5 years from now? Or should we count five years back from now (2023) and write that start date instead (2018)?

- My fiance, the petitioner, has worked in his job for beyond 5 years. Same concern as above: does he write the start date beyond 5 years or just in 5 years?

On p.7, Part 2, item numbers 47.a. to 48, the questions refer to the beneficiary's physical address abroad.

- How is this different from the beneficiary's mailing and physical address, both of which are technically abroad too? Are we supposed to write the same address as the written physical address of the beneficiary? Or are we supposed to leave this blank since it refers to a different meaning of "abroad?"

(Bonus question, if I haven't irritated anyone yet by my overthinking : is it advisable to write N/A on every unanswerable questions, or leave blank? For ex. information on children and previous spouses of petitioner and beneficiary, when both have neither children nor previous spouse.)

Travel requirements for tourist from Philippines to US

My 82 yr old mother-in-law was approved a 10 yr Tourist Visa and her flight is next week. We didn't know how long she was allowed to stay and if a return ticket is required or not, so we only got a one way ticket for her at the time.

  1. I just learned that there is a 6 month / 180 day limit on B2 visa's per stay. Can someone give me a link to an official source page that says this? I can't seem to find any specifics on US or Philippine embassy sites.
  2. What are the Philippines exit requirements / US entry requirements?
    • Is a return ticket required at the airport?
    • Is travel insurance required?

I understand that the requirements / rules apply to any tourist visa, but I was hoping it would be different for the elderly. My in-law's visa interview was really easy.. they literally asked only two questions: Who is she staying with in the US and where do they live. They never asked for any documents. Given her age, they apparently didn't seem to care much about ties to her home country or how long she intended to visit the US given that she's old and not in good physical shape.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!

worth doing ds-260/AOS before having complete civil docs

hi,

we're at the nvc stage but still waiting for 1 civil document (police clearance) which should be in our hands in about a week.

Is there any benefit to completing the DS-260 and AOS now before having all the civil documents available? or do we need to have all the civil documents on hand when completing the DS-260? just trying to get everything out of the way that we can as soon as possible so there's less to worry about. i'd also like to submit the AOS stuff, but again, just don't know if submitting that and/or DS-260 now serves any purpose if the civil documents aren't all ready to go for upload right after we complete those previous forms.

Effects of police report on pending AOS application (merged)

Greetings,

What effects does a police report have on a pending AOS application? I need to file a report against my wife for violence in the home in front of our children.

She has an explosive temper and resorts to throwing objects and destroying things when she gets upset. She's done this on multiple occasions now in front of our two children. One is hers from a previous relationship and the other is our 4 month old child.

Both my wife and her son are pending AOS which we filed last year.

I don't want to press charges, but I need to get this stuff reported so there is a record.

Could a report with the police cause any issues with the AOS.?
