Is it worth using a consulting/visa support agency?

My wife really wants her parents to come to the US on a B2 visa from the Philippines, so she found some local agencies there that claim to help people get their B2 visa with preparing them for the interview.

I already filled out all the paperwork and booked them OFC/Consulate appointments, but I'm skeptical if using an agency is even worth it at this point.

Few notes:

  1. My father-in-law has one complication that in the 1980s, his employer filed his Taiwan immigration paperwork incorrectly and all of the workers got arrested sent back to the Philippines from Taiwan. Not sure if this is considered a deportation, since they never went in front of a judge and no further action was taken, but I noted/explained this situation in his DS-160 and I imagine he will get asked about it during the interview.
  2. They don't have great financial means, which I know is always a challenge. I'm going to provide an invitation letter and confirmation of funding their trip, in case the interviewer wants evidence.
  3. For ties to the Philippines, I was going to recommend them bring their land titles, picture of their house, motorcycle title, and evidence of taking care of our niece and my grandparents-in-law.
  4. For visiting the US, I was going to tell them to talk about visiting my wife and I, but also suggest different touristy things we could do/

We're hoping this week they FINALLY give us a case number and send the k1 petition to manilla already. I'm not sure why it takes 60 days (according to them) to do this but I'm also not sure why it took almost 9 months for uscis to do their job. jeez we would like at least this stuff to be done before the end of the year, see SOME progress. Been here since may with my fiance and this thing hasn't even left the usa left. It's always so crazy to me how the us gov expects people to just wait and keep their life on hold.

Public Charge - Question of past benefits of petitioner and children in Medicaid under ex's name

I just filed the I129F Petition 2 weeks ago and in my particular case as the petitioner, my income is slightly above the income for a family of 4 at 125% FPL. I make enough for this but I also was concerned by the fact that I was on Medicaid (since 2017) and it was extended by COVID so never removed. I cancelled this benefit 4 months ago, before filing and it was only because of the COVID-Emergency they didn't check income, and I've had private health insurance for 3 years - and Medicaid was just an extra.

I have 2 kids that are on Mediciad but through my ex-wife's and I can't remove them, because they are under my ex-wifes name -- if I call they say it's not under me by my ex. What could I show to the consular/do to strengthen my case --- we won't need public benefits and explain kids are on Medicaid through my ex but are on my health insurance policy.

I wanted to know --- what should I present to the consular to show (my fiance won't be a public charge). I own a house that is almost paid off, have health insurance with my kids, and myself. How do I prove to them (the Medicaid) my kids are on, isn't under my name but my ex? What can I do to strengthen my case - though I was on benefits (through COVID emergency)? I make enough money, and there's no reason she would be a public charge under my insurance.

i864a Question, under "Part 3" - does where the join sponsor check matter?

Hi.

For the i864A, is it necessary for my joint sponsor (my mother) to have the correct employment status checked under Part 3?

She's retired, but she insists on putting "housewife" even though her husband died a few years ago.

She refuses to check "retired" because she's ashamed of her last job as working in a supermarket. The last time she worked was back in 2007.

What should I do in this situation? Does it matter for the Embassy Interview?
