Hello VisaJourney!

my boyfriend proposed while I was with him in Ghana this week. We want to start the K-1 visa process but we don t even know where to start. He is Nigerian, so we also have the immigration ban to consider. Just some tips on what to start collecting and how while we wait for the ban to lift? What are some good sources of information? Thank you in advance!!!

Hello everyone,

In respect to the RFE given to me to prove that I entered the marriage in good faith, I had put up copies of documents to submit. These are the documents I will be sending very soon.

1. AT &T prepaid account history for both of us showing that we are under the same bundle. Since we do auto pay and prepaid AT&T does not provide statements.

2. Transaction details printed from my bank account that show AT&T telephone services provider as home and utilities from 2018 to 2020. I was able to generate these because the auto pay come directly from my bank account. No names show the amounts showed.

3. Utility bills for light both in our names and address from 2018 to 2020.

4. Bank statements jointly showing that mortgage, energy, water bills come out from our joint accounts; even though our names and address are just on the light bill. Mortgage and some other bills already have my spouse name and her deceased husband before we got married. We succeeded only on adding my name to the light bill then. But I ensured that I highlighted the mortgage, water, light bills in the joint bank account statements.

5. Greeting cards from me to my spouse and from my spouse to me on anniversary, birthday, Father's Day, valentine's day.

6. Greeting cards from friends and family.

7. Copy that shows me as her emergency contact and access to her medical record.

8. Copy that shows my wife as an emergency contact from my school, employer and hospital to discuss my medical record.

9. Mail from hospital addressing to my wife to send spouse paystub from my employer.

10. Tax return summary for the year 2018-2019 jointly filed. I also requested for the 2018 transcripts form IRS. I have already submitted 2016-2017 initially.

11. My 1098-T and W-2 showing my name and address from my employers from 2017 - 2019

12. Last will and testament, durable power of Attorney, trust and estate planning for both of us. We started planning the will since 2018 but the will needs to be updated, notarized and signed.

13. Void checks both in our names and same address used to pay for property tax in our county.

14. Mails from IRS addressed to both of us for incorrect refund and refund.

15. Copy of credit cards showing both of us names and credit card number since we have the same account number.

16. Photos with family and friends and my spouse with names I could name and little descriptions.

17. Copies of triple A (AAA) documents showing both of us as members since 2017 up to date.

18. Copies of membership cards of AAA for me and my spouse showing the same membership number since 2017 up to date.

19. Copies of life insurance letters that indicated we applied in 2018 for both of us and that our files were received. We had medicals done but could not finish with the process because I haven't got my green card.

20. Copy of a basic life insurance from.my employer indicating my wife and my children as beneficiaries.

21. Medical bills in my name that show the address I live

22. State farm insurance cards that covered our cars showing our names.

23.Copy of a temporary auto identification card from state farm insurance in both our names.

23. Statement from state farm automobile insurance company in both our names and cars covered from 2018 - 2020.

24. Copy of current health insurance provider by my employer.

25. Copies of Previous health insurance both in our names.

26. Employer provided health insurance offer and coverage to file for 2019 tax both in our names and address.

27. Copies of my previous and current driver's licenses, also copy of my wife driver's license showing the same address.

28. Emails from friends and family wishing us Valentine's and anniversary.

29. A bunch of WhatsApp messages showing our conversations .

30. Saving account bank statements showing transactions pages in both our names and address from 2018- 2020.

31. Checking account bank statements with transaction pages in both our names and address from 2018-2020.

32. Copy of a document from my employer for confirming my wife as a beneficiary for incentive investment plan or retirement plan.

33. Copies of documents from my employer confirming both of us covered for medical benefit.

34. Letter addressed to both of us from IRS for a refund check sent to them in both our names and same address.

35. Copy of letter addressed to both of us from COBRA to cover our health and welfare benefit program.

36. Copy of document from my employer that shows my spouse as a primary beneficiary to my basic life insurance.

These are the documents that I have put together, please I will appreciate suggestions and advise from you guys. Thanks.

Did you think I have enough? Please suggest what documents I can still add to these. Thanks.

Is it possible to file AoS for spouse when I haven't paid my 2018 taxes?

Hi,

I hope this question is allowed.

I my spouse has a treasury offset on his taxes and so if he files taxes, his refund gets taken away.

He hasn't filed 2018 and 2019 taxes for this reason- he did file an extension for 2018 and will file one for 2019. He should be able to file his taxes in October when his student loans will be out of default, but we are worried that by then, the increase in costs will be finalized and that will set us back.

I'd like to ask if he can still file an AoS petition for me even though he can't submit the tax returns for the past 3 years.

I'd appreciate any guidance.

Thanks

We filed my brother's N600 a year ago. I made an inquiry with the Minneapolis field office and finally got a response today.

Our records show that your N-600 application is currently under extended review, pending adjudication. We regret that we are unable to provide you with a completion date at this time. We apologize for the delay.

Anyone have any experience with this?
