I will be eligible to apply for citizenship next month and It is likely that I have a child whose mom has refused to send me the birth certificate (I did not sign and wasn't present) or do a DNA test to prove paternity( we were not married and were not exclusive). I do support financially( not legally mandated child support) just in case the child is mine. The child is in her mom's country and not my country of origin. Do I include the child on my N400, so when she's of age and she's mine, I can petition for her or will it complicate the process. I have 2 kids with my US citizen wife and she's aware of the situation and wants the child to come over if she's mine

Administrative processing? Or just in limbo?

Hi everyone.

I was looking for feedback on how my husband and I should proceed. My husband had his interview at the beginning of January 2024, and the immigration officer basically told him that based on his case, she would need to send over his case to the attorney and get feedback. She said he wasn't in administrative processing and that the attorney moved quickly. She gave him a green piece of paper, and at the bottom it has a check mark by three things: one being 'administrative processing refer to the reverse side of this letter but then on the back she put a big x over the administrative processing. I reached out after a week because I was a bit confused and was told they would get back to us when an outcome was reached.

So I guess what I want to know is: has anyone ever heard of something similar? Needing to speak to the attorney (which atty I m not 100% certain) for insight on a case? Do we just sit around and wait, or do we do periodic check-ins? We have been waiting for a while, and I'm honestly ready to get back home, but I don't want to go without him.

In most cases, you would get larger tax return by filing jointly. However, there are situations where filing separately may be better. It's more of a question for a CPA.

In my case, filing jointly will make my refund $3,000 less but separately was higher but since he is still conditional resident, have no choice than to file jointly

1. I came into the United States end of last year, (Dec 29th) and was hoping my SSN card will be delivered within the shortest time frame. Its been more than four weeks and its not been delivered. I got tracking from USPS on my green card to be delivered today. I thought the SSN card should or usually arrives faster than the GC. Is it the right frame of time to approach an SSN office and apply physically since its going to be 5 weeks by next week? I don't want to appear overzealous ..............( Just so you know, i opt to have the SSN sent in my DS260)

2. What is the best way to find a lucrative job? I have a Master's Degree but the jobs I've scouted so far are offering low pay, even lower than some of their workers with no Educational qualifications or as much work experience as me, which makes me think i might not be doing something right. Maybe there's a smarter way asides Linkedin, i hate to be idle.

3. lastly, the cultural change is not that shocking but its a bit. Folks who immigrated, how did you cope when you first moved here? I would like to learn on the things, activities i can do to meet people, make new friends, network.

Thanks
