Hi VJ Members,

Since my application is with NVC and recently got documentary qualified. Soon we may get interview date. my question is : As we need to submit or show all originals document during interview so, far I am in US and overseas wife has below documents original as we are preparing for interview:

Beneficiary (Wife)

1. She has now Original Birth Certificate, Passport, national ID, Police Report and printed photo albums of wedding and other family vacation, chats etc

Petitioners (me)

I have sent her my document as follows :

1. Photo Copy of US Citizenship, passport, Driving and military ID's, Birth Certificate

2. Photo Copy of letter from my employer, copy of pay-stubs,

3. Photo Copy of signed i-864 EZ (Affidavit of support) submitted to NVC online

And printed Tax Transcripts from IRS website,

Now do I need to send my document original to her for interview? I mean does she need to show my original citizenship, ID's and signed i-864 EZ (Affidavit of support) that submitted to NVC online (by scanning) to her?

Few questions regarding Filing for Citizenship

Hello,

I became LPR on April 2015 via Employment (EB2). I still work for the same employer and filed my taxes every year. The Filing Calculator on USCIS website says that I can file as early as late Jan 2020.

I feel like I have a very straightforward case. Never been out of the country for more than a month. No more than 2 months max in a year. Spouse is in the process of arriving to the US under F2A after 2 years of wait. I'm in the DC area so may be subjected to the long wait.

Here are some of my questions -

  • Should I hire an attorney to do the paperwork? I have in the past for everything else but may be this is an overkill. I see folks filing online with ease in other post. I meet all the requirements (physical presence, good moral character etc) listed in the guides here.
  • What happens if I change my Job after applying? The waiting period now for DC area is 9-20 months. I may seek better opportunities sometime next year. Do I just provide them with my new Employer info after applying or can it be amended later during interview.
  • I never registered for selective service as I was a in F1 when I was 18 - 25 yo.
  • I have sizable losses in 2018 in the stock market and a bit during past years. We had a bull market and I lost money go figure. Would that have an impact?

Is there anything else anyone here can think (document wise or what not) that I need to have in possession beside what's already mentioned in the guide? I've heard from friends that the process is more scrutinized but I understand it's on a case by case basis. Please share your experience if you've applied yourself with similar background and went through the process. It would be helpful to me and others.

Thanks!

F1 to EB3 Visa Consular Processing - Interview in couple weeks

Hello guys,

I went to US in 2011 on a student visa, worked in a Tech Company there on OPT status for 3 years. I left US once my OPT ended since I didn't get picked in the H1B lottery. I am currently in my country Nepal.

My Company has filed for EB3 Immigrant Visa via consular processing and I have an interview at the consulate in a couple weeks.

I have a couple questions:

1. Do the interviewer have a concern since I am going from F1 to Immigrant Visa. F1 is a non-immigrant and IV is an immigrant intent visa.

2. What are the types of questions consulars ask for this visa category during the interview?
