Has anyone amended taxes and received a refund after their spouse joined them in the USA.

We have amended from single to married filling jointly.

Hi all, I arrived in the US and currently waiting for my social security card. I start my new job in 2 weeks. If I call the SS national toll free number 1-800-772-1213 will I get an update on whether my card is being worked on? Thanks for the advise.

I have my AOS through marriage interview in a few days and I also have a pending asylum. My question is should I expect questions regarding my asylum at the marriage based green card interview? Anyone with experience please guide me. Thank you

Hello guys , me and my husband who came on a k1 visa just got married this week , and now we are looking to file for adjustment of status. We had planned to file in December , however we also need to make sure he gets all his shots in order (he was missing some due to them being contraindicated at the time of the med exam).

What we are wondering is if there is a time limit on when we can file for AOS, must we file within the 90 days of his visa ?

I live in Kenya. I have an IR1 visa and just received a job offer for the US. My family and I are not yet ready to make the permanent move (we have 2 young kids, a house to sell, a car etc) but I need to show work authorization for the US. I read in the previous post that upon entering I should be able to work.

• While waiting for the green card, will I be able to open a bank account?
• How soon will I receive the SSN?
• Do I need the Physical green card to work? Do I need it to be able to travel outside and then return to the US after a month?
• And most important, I am about to sign my contract- are there any documents online that I can show my employer to prove I should be able to work immediately upon entry and there are no limitations to my status?
