Translation of Marriage Certificate and Evidence

I am in the process of completing the online 130 for my wife of 14+ years. Obviously, I want to avoid an RFE, and I have a question about marriage certificate translations and evidence.

Question 1: I have two separate translations of my official Japanese wedding certificate that I had made for other purposes a few years ago:

1. One version is a self-translation that was notarized by the US embassy in Japan. It only contains the basic information from the original (names, dates, etc.) but specifically includes the marriage case number.

2. The second version was made by a professional translator and includes almost all of the information on the original form (Japanese mayor s name, etc.) except for marriage case number. It is already apostilled, though I know this is not required.

Should I just choose one translation (probably the second because it is more complete) or include both translations? Would including both translations complicate the reviewing process unnecessarily or is it a case of the more, the better . I don t know how finicky the USCIS is about the translations at the 130 stage.

Question 2: For evidence, I will of course submit my passport page, the translated marriage certificate with original, and my daughter s US Consular Report of Birth Abroad with our names listed as parents, pictures, etc. I thought I would create a PDF with 10-15 pictures of the wedding, and subsequent years together (with our daughter). We don't have any financial documents in both of our names. Do you all think this would be enough? Seems like the 14 years of marriage and the child would be enough, but other posters seem to have more evidence.

Hello all,

I recently submitted all of the required paperwork for my spouse's I-130 o the NVC. I am leaving Japan at the end of August and I am worried my wife may not have her visa by then. Should/ can I ask for a direct consular filing now that I have an offer letter from my company and a hard date? JFYI I submitted the remainder of my paperwork in late June.

NOA1 for I-485 on Dec 5th 2020, got an RFE in March. They received the response on April 27th (had to submit my tax return for last year).

Does this seem quite long to wait for an update since then? It's been over two months and we're VERY ready to have the biometrics set to get the EAD.

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I saw the following info in another thread and I did not want to hijack it so I'm asking here. I saw the following comment by @Sparkle Sparkle but I cannot find the info on USCIS site. It used to have a link in the fee calculator asking "would you like to add another form?" and you could stack up the forms such as 485, 131, and 765 and the fee comes out $1225. But there is no such link on the fee calculator site now. So I'd like to know if there's another area on USCIS that mentioned if you are filing these documents concurrently, there is no fee for 764 and 131? Thank you in advance!

Packet 2: Form I-485 (Price : 1225)-----He is asking USCIS to register him as a resident based on marriage to you the USC

Form I-864 (Price : FREE)-----You must include this in the form i-485. You are declaring your salary and assets informing the US government that your spouse is your responsibility and you will take care of him till he becomes a USC or attains a certain work credit. You cannot withdraw your support.

Packet 3: Form I-765 (Price : Free only when you file concurrently with I-485) --------He is asking to seek employment.

Packet 4: Form I-131 (Price : Free Only when you file concurrently with I-485)------This is known as advance parole...if approved he will be able to travel abroad while his adjustment of status is still in play. NOTE!!! If you filled I-765 a single biometric card known as COMBO car will be issued to cover for Employment authorization and Advance Parole.

Can I really file the I-130 online while living in Japan?

Hi everyone,

I'm new here so I'm very sorry if this is a dumb or repeated question, but I'm so confused because of conflicting things I've read. USCIS website has a blanket statement saying we can file online if we are living abroad, however the Tokyo Embassy website says we MUST mail a paper application of all documents because they don't have USCIS representation in their embassy.

I called the Tokyo Embassy directly and the visa representative told me the same, I can only submit it through mail, but when I told them the USCIS website says otherwise, they backtracked and basically told me they don't know for sure.

Other support websites have said online filing is perfectly fine from Japan...

I'd love to hear directly from anyone who has had success submitting everything successfully online, from Japan, to make sure I'm not gonna lose $535 when I submit this
