US Immigration from Ireland

Hi everyone.

I recently arrived into the US on a K1 visa and married my fianc . We are in the process of applying for adjustment of status.

I asked my lawyer about applying for my SSN and they made a discovery that K1 visa holders are one class of visa holders that are automatically entitled to work without EAD authorization or DHS authorization, according to the social security website itself. This means my social security card should not have valid for work only with DHS authorization written on it.

Every time I ve googled this, every other source seems to say that DHS and EAD authorization is required prior to work. Even visa journey itself links ( https://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn/ )to one of these above website and states this, even though the website itself states the opposite. Has anyone else encountered this?

My lawyer believes that I am entitled to work as soon as I get my SSN. And based off the information given on the SS website I would be inclined to agree!

My wife went to the driver's license office,took the written test and passed.She took the driving test and passed.She now has a driver's license good for a big 30 days.Has anyone been through this experience?Share your thoughts please.....

My mother visited us back in April for 2 months and now after 5 months she wanted to visit us again for 2 and half months. She has a valid 5 years valid multi entry just wondering if will have any trouble at the port of entry? due to second visit within same year? thank you in advance.

Hey guys! I'm a bit confused on understanding processing times and I would love a bit of help. According to the centre information, the Nebraska estimated wait time is 12 to 15 months and this website estimates that Visas sent in October are currently being processed. Meanwhile, if I look at the current bulletin for I-130 for spouses of citizens under "B. DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS" (available here), the "justifying immediate action" date is the 1st of August 2019. And the Final Action Date is C, where "the C listing indicates that the category is current, and that applications may be filed regardless of the applicant s priority date."

So for both of these, the Visa Bulletin says... "Applicants for immigrant visas who have a priority date earlier than the application date in the chart below may assemble and submit required documents to the Department of State s National Visa Center, following receipt of notification from the National Visa Center containing detailed instructions."

To me, these suggest different things. How can I be ready to submit required documents if Nebraska is a year behind? My filing / priority date is the 8th of April 2019. Do I believe the Bulletin or the processing estimates? Really lost here.

P.S. what's up with the spread in processing times? some are a few months, some are well over a year. surely they should be spread out better.

I just realized I put the wrong category on my Application For Employment Authorization on number 27.I put A6 instead of C9.What should I do?My application was received Oct 2,2019.
