Hi guys regarding the affidavit of support when sponsoring my wife. Will cash savings be excepted with out a job as I dont live in the U.S and would like to travel over together from Ireland but am finding it difficult to source a job from this side off the Atlantic, just if we had say three times above the poverty line in cash savings

Announcement Watch

Hi All, first post here. I though it might be a good idea to have an "announcement watch" tracker to try and accurately track what the officials are saying via news media and elsewhere. Whilst this site is incredibly informative there are a lot of opinion based updates which are misleading and I thought it might be good to have a section whereby updates are shared eradicating all false hope by cutting rumor-mill discussion.

The U.S. embassy here in Dublin has not yet opened - so trying to keep my finger on the pulse on when we may actually get an interview date..

There is no material update since the 2nd June: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ie/niv/information/announcements#571-urgent_information_for_visa_applicants_regarding_novel_coronavirus_20200526162555

Told we don't meet the meet income requirements - but we do

Hey there,

Just got an update on my case, very frustrated by it. We were just told we do "not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview." And then we were linked here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

I'm not really sure what the counsular officer making a decision means, but the message is also wrong. The HHS guidelines for a household of 2 is $21,550, but my wife made over $35,000 last year. How is that correct?

We were already told we aren't eligible for for "EZ" form, which I believe was incorrect too (we poured through the form info and saw nothing that would disqualify us) but they didn't tell us why and I thought it would be easier to just do the regular I-864 than trying to argue with them.

I don't want to file with a joint sponsor, but we could do it if we really needed. Does anyone have a better understanding of this situation than me?

Thank you.

Submitting Photos Digitally and Signing the I-130a

Hi,

We're close to submitting our I-130 package digitally. I have searched to see if the below have been asked before. Apologies if I missed them.

I'm slightly confused by the submission of passport photos. The submission form itself states:

Quote

Upload a recent color photograph of yourself that measures 2 inches by 2 inches....

....Also, include an image of the back of the photograph with your name and A-Number written in pen or pencil.

Is it necessary to make a scanned copy of the photos with the back signed along with the digital file? It seems quite redundant but it is asking for it so we're not sure.

Similarly, the I-130a form is not required to be signed by the spouse beneficiary if they are not currently living in the US. However, we are submitting an addendum to this with some extra information. The instructions say to sign and date these it doesn't mention not signing them if the spouse is not in the US. So if I am signing the addendum should I also sign the I-130a to remain consistent?

Thanks!
