Hi everyone,
We're recently engaged after dating 6 months - yes, quite soon but it feels right. (I am UKC/28 and my petitioner USC/28 - age gap by a few months). We met on an app and we've met up 6 times - the longest being a month so in total, we have been with each other physically for 3 months.
Obviously we don't want to get denied and I know dating for such short time could be a red flag - however we do have lots of photos/boarding passes etc to prove our relationship. We chat/facetime everyday etc.
1) Problem is.. I am currently living abroad in HK (teaching English for the past 5 years). I am technically also a HK Permanent resident where I can work without a visa (its an ID card as opposed to a passport) - does this "dual citizenship" affect my application?
2) The reason why I had moved to HK was for a previous relationship which had ended before this one. If I was asked why I moved to HK in my interview, should I be honest about my previous relationship? Or could I stick with "I moved to teach English"? - which is also true. Obviously, seeing as I moved countries for a previous partner and now I am also considering moving for my current partner - would this be seen as red flag whilst trying to get into the US?
3) So: we are thinking we could wait till June/July where we will have dated for 1 year - therefore more evidence but also a chance for me to move back to the UK at the end of the school academic year (due to political unrest in HK, my own personal decision wanting to go back home and as well not needing to requesting address change as it'll prolong the timeline). Will they question why we waited so long between engagement and submission of K1? Will my reason of moving back home to UK before putting in my petition be seen as "a red flag"? Like I'm trying to "play the system"?
