Hey guys! I just want to share some information that I personally had difficulty to find across the web: What happens when your case is being transferred? (Note: YMMV) I am a LPR and I petitioned my wife for GC application based on marriage. Our case was originally processed at California Service Center (CSC). (Case was received late April, 2019) We were religious in checking the processing time on USCIS website even knowing that the time listed may not be accurate at times. We were hoping that the processing time will become shorter since there was trend lately. Then... our case was transferred to Potomac Service Center (PSC) on Feb 19, 2020. The listed processing time for I-130 for F2A was way longer than CSC. (CSC: 8.5 - 11 months; PSC: 26.5 - 34.5 months) We were scratching our heads... wondering, "If they are doing workload balancing, why would cases be transferred from CSC to PSC?" We were both quite discouraged at the time. I was trying to search online to see if anyone sharing similar experience while their case was being transferred and what could happen afterwards. Either I didn't search the right thing or there wasn't any good info out there. The only thing I saw was on VisaJourney where a limited amount of applicants got their cases transferred and then got approved in about 2 months. I tried to calm ourselves with this little trace of evidence, hoping for the best. Last night, as I was driving home from the airport, I got a notification text from USCIS saying that there was an update on my case. I was mentally preparing for the worst: RFE. Since I was driving, I told my wife to check it. She screamed ecstatically after she saw the screen. IT WAS APPROVED! Lesson learned: Case transferring seems to be a good news instead of a bad news. Don't freak out. I hope this sharing could help relieve some of your worries.

Hello all, I am the petitioner for my fiance and our i-129f was approved in late January, now we are just waiting for packet 3 from consulate to arrive. I am still currently employed in Hong Kong, but have made plans to move with fiance to the states once her K1 visa is approved. I have not secured a U.S. job yet but has passed NCLEX 2 months ago and got an active RN license . We have assets in our U.S. bank account more than 5x annual salary of 120% poverty line and I have Form 1040 tax return for 2016-2018 foreign income (Pending to file 2019). What I am worried now is that my fiance will get denied in the coming interview, as I don't have a U.S.-based income or experience yet. Do you guys think this is a concern? Should we delay the process so that I can go first to find a job in the states?

Public charge DS5540 - student debt |

I had a look through the DS5540 form and saw there was a section about debt. I have student debt from 5 years ago which honestly... I haven't been paying back. I live abroad from the UK and tried to sweep it under the rug basically... Apart from my student debt, I don't feel like I have anything that could contribute "negatively" towards the Public Charge rule. I know this rule is new and all.. but I was wondering if I could get any opinions on if student debt would have a major impact on my K1 application...

So I'm trying to prepare well in advance and looking into getting my police certificate from the UK. I have a bit of a dilemma. As from what I understand, the police certificate will have your address on it. I currently I reside in HK - I have a "solid" address which is my parent's place and I have address proof for that (Let's call this Address 1). However, I rent a room in a flat-share where all bills are under my landlord's name therefore I have no proof for that (I'll call this Address 2). In our I129F mailing address is Address 2. There is no mention of Address 1 in our application.. If however, I apply for the UK Police Cert and it has Address 1 on it.. Will the Embassy scrutinise this discrepancy? **I am unwilling to use Address 1 on the I129F as I rarely go back to my parent's place and mail is known to get lost.
