US Immigration from Hong Kong

I had tried to open a bank account in US when I was there last time, but the bank didn't accept because I didn't have SSN. Now I got my IR1 visa and am planning on how to move my assets (savings account) into US before I move this year. Is there any issue if I transfer my money into my husband's account? I have his bank account set up with my bank and had done several wire transfers before over the past few years. We plan to do a few transfers before I move, but each will still be over $10K. All the money is legit as it's coming from my wages which I saved over the years. I'm just wondering if it will trigger any tax issue on his part or my part when I arrive.

I'm looking for advice regarding doing remote work for a Non-US company. I'm considering joining and getting jobs at a project based website similar to Odesk. I just mailed my AOS packet including my application for an EAD.

Can anyone advise me how I can go about doing this? AM I ALLOWED to do this? Or can anyone share what they did to earn any sort of income while waiting for their green card and EAD? I'm not looking to build a lucrative career here, I just don't like asking my husband for money for small things like a shaver or feminine products.

I'm planning on my move to US this Fall. I don't have that much stuff to worth booking a container/partial container. I figured that I most likely will use the Post Office to send some boxes via surface mail.

- Is there any formal document I need to prepare (e.g. a checklist of "Goods to follow") to bring with me at POE?

- Is there any info on the U.S. Customs & Border Protection website that gives details about what new immigrants should follow?

Does anyone know how long it might take for one embassy to transfer a case file to another?

As of July 21st, CEAC is showing "Transfer in Progress" for our visa case, which is being transferred from the Philippines to Hong Kong.

Just curious if anyone who has had their case transferred in the past knows how long it takes to get from point A to point B.

I should be getting my IR1 visa soon (fingers crossed) and am planning to move to US this year.

My husband is self-employed and doesn't have health insurance in US. ACA open enrollment period in his State will be Nov 1-Dec 15. We hope to make use of the open enrollment to get health insurance for both of us.

- Should I aim for my POE before Nov 1, or does it matter? My current plan is to fly in around mid Nov but if there's any merit of going earlier, I will adjust my plan.

- I'm considering buying short-term medical insurance to cover the period from my POE to the ACA plan starts. How long does it take normally for ACA plan to be effective?
