Hello, disclaimer: this is going to be quite long.. I am in quite a situation right now and feel desperate to be honest. I ve been to the U.S. last Fall for a semester abroad (J-1 Visa). I also met my current girlfriend there. In March I wanted to travel to the U.S. to visit her with my approved ESTA. In Chicago I got denied entry by a homeland security officer. He took answers from me out of context and created a case against me, that I would illegally purse to work here to support my trip financially. It was a huge misunderstanding but I couldn t do anything against it. I offered to provide proof of financials with a bank statement but he didn t want to see it. In the end I needed to sign a sworn statement. I should have never signed it, I was repeating several times that he took my words out of context and was asking for reviewing the video material. He definitely pressured me but I don t want to accuse anyone here besides myself for answering his questions without thinking twice. However, he assured me that this denial of entry does not affect further visa applications at all. He even told me to apply for studying in the U.S. and come on a student Visa. As I got accepted by the university where I already spent my semester abroad, a dream came true. I always wanted to pursue a full time study program internationally. Today I had my interview and I was prepared for every potential question and had a good feeling about it. It turned out that interview at the embassy took literally 3 minutes. The officer looked at his screen after checking my documents and asked: can you tell me what happened to you in Chicago? . I told him that there had been a misunderstanding on my side of the questions as I was referring to the general future instead of the intended stay as a tourist with my answers. I added that I never considered to work without having the appropriate visa for it and I already spent time in the U.S. on a J1 meeting all of the regulations. He then proceeded to say, thank you for trying to apply for a VISA, but the incident just happened a short time ago, so I can t provide you a visa today. You may go . I was in shock and just walked out. Second worst day of my life after being denied entry. As my program starts in August, should I try it again? Can someone help me out or give me some advice on what to do? i am sorry for the long post but I just needed to get it out. I am looking forward to every potential answer. Thank you, Michael

Hello everyone! I am a bit confused about the DS-260 and the question about my primary occupation. I m working in an office in full time currently, nothing special. There s a list full of occupations and I just chose others , is that correct? Also, I was wondering, if I don t have to provide any previous jobs from the last years? And then there s another question about what I want to work as in the US, and I again chose Others and wrote down Office job/Administration job , is that alright? Thank you so much

I had my naturalization interview today. When I walked in to check-in, the front desk lady couldn't find my name on the list. I was asked to sit down anyways and I got a bit worried. 10 minutes later, an officer called my name and as soon as we walked into his office he told me they have not received my file. We went ahead with the interview, I passed the test, questions were asked, he spoke with his supervisor and still no file. Has this ever happened to anyone? I wouldn't be as worried if I didnt fly for the interview from Germany (military husband), wasn't pregnant and didn't have to fly back home tomorrow. I was told they will give me a call when/if the file shows up but until then, they cannot approve me. Now I am sitting in my hotel stressing over what to do - change my flight? fly back home? This really sucks!!

Dear forum my children received their LPR status end of Dec 2021. Given our special circumstances, they became US citizens upon being allowed into the US. Their green card was delivered to our family but not their SSN/card. The kids received their US passports in mid-March through the US consulate in Germany, the green card was mailed back to USCIS after receiving their passports but their SSN is nowhere to be found so far. It has neither arrived in the US despite answering the DS 260 question accordingly, nor was the card mailed to us in Germany after seeing the representative at the US Embassy in Frankfurt and applying for the SSN card again. Now, I am not sure why it takes that long and it is somewhat stressful at this point as we haven't filed our taxes yet. Is there anything we can do? We are returning to the US this summer and my husband is leaving before us but it will still be too late for our taxes, plus I am not even sure if he can go to the SSN office without the kids as they are above 12 and he is the stepdad. I am also on a super quick 24h business trip to Boston in a few days but again, I wouldn't have the time to wait for hours at the SSN office nor would my kids be able to come along. Calling and emailing Frankfurt doesn't work. We haven't received a response and the phone line just plays an automatic message. Any advice, suggestion or experience would help us a lot.
