Notifying employer of pending visa

Hello all,

this is a pretty broad topic of question and I was just wondering if any others would be interested in sharing how they went about it.

My (beneficiary, K1 visa) NOA1 is March 28th, so really recent. I am starting a new job and of course one of the questions in the interview were what my future plans are as in: "if you tell me theres a solid reason you're gonna quit in the next 1-3 years I'm probably not gonna hire you."

I'm from Germany and having to lie about this is really common and and recommended, especially because there is nothing that would have you make to submit that information.

So, do I bring it up down the line? In my experience anyone I've told that I'm waiting on my visa and trying to explain it to them, they don't understand quite what a long process it is and also how suddenly and quickly things can change and how I only know of a vague time-frame that I can expect to move.

Or should I wait for my NOA2 and then just quit without a heads-up? Anyway, I'd be interested if there is anyone in the same boots as me inclined to share how they went about it.

Thanks!

Hello,

I m a U.S. citizen, but my husband is not. I changed my last name when I got married. I m living with my husband in Germany(we are not German citizens). I just had my baby in Germany. I went to the Standesamt office to register the birth. They asked me to get a certificate from the U.S. embassy stating I changed my last name (since it s different from my birth certificate). Will the US embassy issue a certificate? Or should I hire lawyer to help me?

Letter from Embassy

Hello,

I received an envelope from the US embassy here in germany. the envelope includes that a cover letter saying that they are processing my application, residential form, checklists, instructions on how to proceed with the application (medicals, etc), etc but there was nothing in the envelope stating that I should mail them any documents. Is this not suppose to be the packet 3? I read here that the supposed letter from the embassy (packet 3) is also to instruct you to send some documents to the embassy including some original documents via courier and I will now later get a letter from them saying that I can now proceed with scheduling the appointment, but in this envelope I received, there was nothing like that. Anyone experienced the same thing? Should I go ahead and send them the documents even though they did not mention it in the letter? or is the packet 3 content differs per individual? Please I will appreciate your advice on what to do. Thanks

Hi all,

I want to give my bank a heads up to make sure USCIS' charge doesn't get denied next month. Can someone tell me what the actual charge will be? Is it "Department of Homeland Security"?

Thanks!

Hi all,

getting ready to file my ROC here in a couple of weeks. I feel we have some solid evidence, deed to our house, car titles, joint checking and savings accounts, retirement accounts, etc. When we bought our house last year my wife applied for the mortgage in her name because I was still a student at the time (not anymore although she still makes about 50% more than me) and didn't make a lot. Like I said, all the paperwork such as the deed, title insurance, home owners insurance has both our names on it. Should I even include the mortgage statements in our package? I am leaning towards yes as I don't want to make it seem like we were hiding the fact that our mortgage is in her name SHOULD they send an RFE later on. Interested to hear your thoughts...

Thanks!
