Medical Exam Before Interview Date

I am applying for a CR1.

My wife is American, and she is currently in the USA. I am in Germany.

We have submitted all documents, and now we are waiting to hopefully get the interview date soon.

Getting an appointment for medical exams can take some time here. I got one that is on the 25th of July, but now one opened up for tomorrow.

My question is, can I do the medical exam before I get the interview date or not? I am seeing conflicting information online, some saying you need only the case number, and some that you also need to have the interview scheduled already.

Reading some forum posts, only the DS-260 and the case number is required. I am really conflicted now on what to do.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I just noticed that I am already discussing politics without even as much as introducing myself I apologize for the bad manners.

As I mentioned in my first post I am applying for a green card the second time around. While we did live in the US for some time my husband and I spent most of our married life in Germany. Nonetheless it is time for a change and we chose to apply for another green card beginning of this year. With filing the I 407 (old card expired 2009) and all that we filed the I 130 in April and will see how long it takes.

Despite filing with a lawyer as our first green card was one the worst nightmares in my life, I am finding the process as utterly dysfunctional as the first time around. Nonetheless I am in good spirit that we will get through it again.

Thanks for having me on VJ.

No vape sale with foreign license

Hi VJ-community,

I entered the US in the middle of May on IR-1 visa, I m still waiting for my SSN since DHS seemed to have lost the application, whatever that means and the local SSN office wouldn t let me apply for a new number until 3 weeks after I entered.

Without a SSN, I also cannot get a Kansas drivers license or state ID yet.

Today I went into a vape shop, which had a 21+ sign in the window. I am almost 30 years old and had my German ID and even my passport with me.
I was asked for an ID, and then asked to leave, because they couldn t verify my age with my German ID or passport I guess they need to scan the ID and foreign IDs cannot be scanned by their computer program.
That very much felt like discrimination.
Is that legal?

I know it will only take a few weeks to get a SSN now, and this isn t really a life threatening problem or anything, but it still didn t feel good to be asked to leave.

has anyone else had similar experiences?

This may well be a stupid question, but after googling I have not found the answer yet. If I am not totally wrong I will need the police certificate during the NVC stage. As I am a German citizen living in Germany it is clear to me that I need the German certificate, but as far as I know I will need a certificate for any place I have lived for more than a year before. Does that include the US? I left the US in 2004, but lived there for more than a year. If the American certificate is needed, where do I get that?

Again thanks so much for the help!

Expedited request

Hello All,

I ve just started with the process for my girlfriend to get the visa expedited. We currently live in Germany together and we are having a baby. I m a disabled veteran who struggles with anxiety and depression. I m wanting to move back to the US for better healthcare and VA healthcare access. I received a job offer that allows me to move rather quickly, in about 6 months. And I was wondering what are the chances of expedited based on humanitarian or any other category.

I recently submitted an expedited request online but the chat didn t ask for much info. I got denied for the expedite but I m currently pursuing one with the Senator of Florida. Does anyone have any experience on this? What are the chances or ways I should phrase it to really get the point across?

My anxiety and depression will kill me if I m away from my gf and baby when he s born. They fully depend on me financially. Not sure if financial loss (having to pay for everything here plus housing for myself going back to USA) is a way to submit it. Please let me know your thoughts!
