Hi everybody, With all the Covid-19 craziness going on and a questionable economic outlook, I'd like to be prepared for a situation my family could find myself in. We've been living in the U.S. since 2005 on my wife's work visa (E2). Both of our kids (5 and 11) were born in the U.S. and are U.S. citizens. In the case that my wife would lose her job, we would also lose our visa status. As far as I know, we would have to leave the country within 60 days after loss of a visa status. Does anyone know, if having children who are U.S. citizens, would allow the parents to remain in the U.S. even without a visa? Is there another document we could obtain, that would allow us to keep living in the U.S. for the kids' sake, that is not tied to an employer? Thanks in advance for all your replies and ideas.

Hello all, I am unsure about what consulate to chose when completing my I-130. My husband (beneficiary) holds an Indian citizenship, however he currently resides in Struttgart, Germany because he is pursuing his MBA. He is on a student visa that is valid till September 2021. Should I chose the consulate of his home country (Mumbai, India) or should it be where he currently resides. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had high hopes that the consulates would continue with K-1 interviews. My fiances interview was scheduled 2nd week of April, then we were hit with the pandemic and her interview was canceled as for everyone else. Last week I contacted the consulate in Frankfurt, Germany to see if K-1 visa interviews would be included now that they are reopening for some limited services and received the following as an answer: We are not processing or scheduling K visa appointments at this time. Although you may be eligible for an exception from Presidential Proclamation 10052 on the Risk to the Labor Market, you are still present in the Schengen Zone and subject to Presidential Proclamation 9984. If you are eligible for an exception from Presidential Proclamation 9984 (ex. You have a U.S. citizen or LPR child under 21 or a U.S. citizen or LPR spouse), please contact us at FrankfurtVisaInquiries@state.gov. Did anyone receive anything like this from a consulate? Also, I am having a hard time understanding what an exception could be from the 9984 Proclamation. Would anyone be able to explain please? I would really appreciate the help.

Hello, Apologize ahead of time for the long post, however, I want you guys to have a clear picture of my situation. I want to know if my situation would warrant a direct consular filing in New Delhi, India office? I am a US citizen married to an Indian citizen (husband). We have a daughter together (5 years old), a US citizen. I and my daughter hold an OCI visa in India. I had traveled to Chennai on February 29, 2020 to visit my in-laws and we anticipated a family reunion with my husband in March 2020. My husband is currently located in Germany on a student visa because he was pursuing his MBA in international management at a university; he was in his last semester of the program. Due to the pandemic, he was unable to complete his MBA thesis and graduate on time. In addition, due to the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and closure of country borders, he is uncertain if he will be able to return to Germany to complete his degree if he left the country. On the other hand, I decided to stay in India with my in-laws until the pandemic was under control. Repatriation flights were available, however; I was frightened to travel by air with my 5-year old daughter. It would be extremely difficult to make a young child wear a mask, gloves and face shield in a long haul flight across continents. I did not want to risk her safety on a 16 hour journey with connecting flights in different cities. I chose to stay in India until it is safe for me and my daughter to fly back home to Texas. Me and my daughter are unable to travel to Germany to meet my husband due to the above reasons as well as Germany closing its borders to Americans for short term visits . At this time, the situation looks bleak (high volume of corona virus cases in both Chennai and in my hometown Houston, Texas). I can mail my entire application to the consulate in New Delhi. Or if there is any other options, I am willing to pursue.

Hello lovely people, I technically can apply for the US citizenship in October but I will wait until I have my certificate from the German government saying that I can keep my German citizenship and acquire a second one. Do I have to mention that I ran a red light and passed a stopping school bus? I got pulled over by a police officer shortly after I ran the red light and handed me a document saying that I will be getting something in the mail. My car got caught on the school bus camera and I had to pay a fine.
