We are applying for AOS from ESTA. The stumbling block is this ridiculous I-944 form. Our HH size is 2, my French husband and I, his USC wife. Husband had no income in 2019, and we filed 2019 taxes as MFJ. Only my income is reported there (which is more than enough for HH). I have debts like mortgage and car loan. Husband has no assets and no debts in France. So what do we report for those questions on the form, only my income and
debts?
Is it necessary to report my several bank accounts assets (we d rather avoid all those 12 mo statements, lots of paperwork) if total income reported on tax forms is more than enough for us?
Another question re: Husband s education. He has no high school diploma nor GED or its equivalent. He abandoned school at the age of 11 to start working to help his family (yes, in the early 60s it was legal in his country to use children s labor). Husband never finished his education, he is 61 y.o. and all his life worked in restaurants as server/waiter. Does he have to explain it in a separate statement, or what?
Another question re: Foreign languages. Husband speaks 6 (six) languages fluently but never had formal studying nor tests to prove his language abilities. How does he go about it?
All in all, looks like I-944 is going to be pretty empty in his case. Will his AOS package be rejected because of it?
