Call DHS to expedite SSN processing? |

Due to a clerical error, his middle name was put as a second first name, and the application sat for a month, so we've been back and forth with our local office. We didn't call sooner because were advised of covid delays and USPS processing times. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Upon the follow-up in August since it was about a month waiting, the mistake was realized and the new application supposedly sent to DHS on Aug. 6. We originally applied on July 8. Exactly 2 weeks after his entry to the US. We've been calling weekly for an update, as instructed. My question is, has anyone every heard of calling DHS for an expedite on SSN processing? The SSA rep said that this is an option, I've personally never heard of this, or know if it's possible to help the situation. Our I94 will expire on Sept. 21. We will be cutting it pretty close and if this is actually a thing, might be worth a try.

Hi, I will arrive in North Carolina soon on K1 visa and plan to have a wedding in either Ashville, North Carolina or San Francisco, California where my fiance comes from. I wonder if it is possible for us to get married in CA then live and do all papers work in NC? Or we can only get married in NC? My fiance is currently living in NC and we will have a house there. And does anyone knows if the marriage process is normal in NC and CA or there is still disruption due to Covid? Thank you a lot

Im moving to the US in a few weeks and selected a SSN to be issued in my DS-260. To my understanding, I should be receiving the card within three weeks after being admitted to the country. Is that somewhat likely or will it take longer? Anyone with recent experience?

Has anyone (non plaintiffs in Milligan or other suits etc.) gotten a K1 visa recently under Secretary Blinken's NIE to K1 applicants? My fianc had his interview today and was given verbal approval and they took his passport, but we're Schengen Area, so I told him to specifically ask that if granted the K1 visa, it be noted within his passport that the visa is an NIE to PP 10143 "the travel ban", just to try to avoid anyone at CBP or airports who may not be up to date on the news that I so vehemently follow. I skimmed through some K1 NIE posts here already, but can't seem to find anything that's for a non-Milligan plaintiff or who's been granted a K1 in a travel banned nation since the Secretary of State's order. The CO told him after the interview that the rules changed and he doesn't need it anymore and that previously, he would have had to travel to a 3rd party country to quarantine to then enter the US. Does anyone in a similar situation and timeline have any experience? Was "National Interest Exemption to PP 10143" blatantly written in your passport? Am I just too worried? Regardless of what it says in the visa, we're still going to have all the DoS webpages and items printed and ready to go when he is scheduled to fly (we're planning for end of June). The last thing I want to do is have him turned away at POE. Thanks in advance if anyone can give advice or past experience.

Hi all, I am going through the supporting evidence requirements for the Affidavit of Support and one of them is a letter from the employer stating whether the work is temporary or permanent. My US fianc started working at the end of March for a company that hired him through a contracting company. His work contract says it is "contract to hire", which means that for now the contract is for a one year of employment but they usually end up hiring the person as a permanent employee after that one year. He would be making $111,000 in a year, maybe a bit less during this year since he only started but still way more than what the minimum requirement for the sponsors are. Has anyone been in a similar situation and could tell us if the embassy would for some reason not accept him as a sponsor because the work contact doesn't say permanent? Also, is the tax refund info required only for self-employed sponsors? So in my fianc s case he would only need to submit his bank statements and a letter from his employer as evidence? Thank you!
