US Immigration from Finland

Hey guys,

So my girlfriend is visiting me (USC) in the U.S right now. We initially wanted to get married, and then have her leave, then do a CR1 Visa to bring her here.

But after talking to some people, they said that she could stay after getting married and we could do an Adjustment of Status?

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1) Is it legal for her to stay and do the adjustment of status?

2) How early in the process do I have to submit an i-864, affidavit of support? I'm currently unemployed but should be employed soon.

3) I've heard if you're doing the marriage + aos, you should have your marriage after the 90 days (ESTA) expires or something?

4) How long after the marriage would we need to begin the AOS process?

Hey guys,

I am an American citizen, and I want to marry my girlfriend from Finland. We have both decided that it would be best for her to move here to live with me.

We want to do the CR1 process after we get married to bring her here legally.

I understand that I need to file an Affidavit Of Support i-864. But we had a couple of questions.

1. How long into the application process do they generally ask about my finances?

2. I am currently unemployed and have been since last November (I have been receiving unemployment benefits), but I am looking for a job and hope to be employed soon. How long would I have to have been employed before submitting the i-864 in order for me to prove that I can support her? 6 months? Like if I got employed in January 2024, and my yearly income surpasses 125% of the poverty guidelines, and I submit the document in July/August, would that be ok?

3. Also, if my yearly income from said job is part-time and only meets 100% of the poverty guidelines, could I use savings to cover the rest? I think I've read somewhere about having 3x the difference?

My Processing Time until deciosion says 2 weeks. How accurate is this? Also before the normal processing time for I-130 it said 10.5 months and now they have changed it u til 18 months. Is this some type of game with this Immigration or what?

Filed I-130 for my wife on March 8 2022 the processing time has been overdue still no answer. The case center is in California.
Does anyone know the time it will take until the decision? We have two children who are a US Citizens and my wife is a Finnish Citizen.
To me this is a absurd to take so long for a simple immigration procedure.
In Finland it took only 3 months for me to get a Family Resident Permit and they told me i can even wait in Finland with the tourist visa until the case is approved because they didnt want to put stress on my wife being without me. How thoughtful of finns.

Hi all,

Our (K1+K2+K2) I-485 got a case status update "Case approved" on 28th Oct 2022. I am wondering what we are expecting next? Will the GC arrive in mail, or will there be another case status update before?

NOTE: We did not expedite, and we are amazed how fast I-485 was approved, our local office shows average 18months processing time (Raleigh, NC). Also we were expecting different timelines for K1 and K2, not that it would all get approved on the same day.
