Hi everyone, I'm submitting the civil documents for the NVC. I have all the required documents, but one thing is confusing me. I lived in Uruguay for 10 months when I was 17. In the US Department of State website it says you need the Police certificate if you lived in another country for 12 months or more after turning age of 16. However in the online application in the section where I upload all the documents there is a section for the police certificate of Uruguay. Does it only show automatically since I listed the Uruguayn address in my residence history? Can I click "Not applicable" and explain I only lived there for 10 months? Thank you

Hi! Is your old green card still valid for travel after a legal name change? My wife is a long time permanent resident (green card holder) and has booked a trip to Europe to visit her parents. She legally changed her last name about 6 months ago and has a new passport and ID card in that name. Her green card, however, is still in her last name. She applied for a new green card but still hasn't received a replacement (maybe 6 more months of waiting). Does anyone know if she will be able to use the old green card (along with the court order as proof of the name change) to return to the US? Many thanks!

Hi everybody! I m Finnish and my husband is a US citizen. He applied for the I-130 for me in May. We got it approved in November and our case was moved to the NVC. Now we have paid all the NVC fees and all the paperwork for the CR-1 spouse visa is pretty much done. However just a couple days ago my husband was offered a new job. He would still be working for the same US company as earlier, but he would be working abroad probably for the next 10-15 years. Technically, he would be domiciled in the US and on a long term rotation abroad (changing location every 3-4 years). He would still need to come to US for every 3-6 months for business. So the question is: Does it make any sense for us to keep going with the visa process since we are probably not going to live in the US for so many years? Is there any chance that I could keep my green card even though we would be living abroad? We are confused and wouldn t like to give up with the visa since we have already come so far with the process. Thank you in advance!
