Is a lawyer needed for i601 filing? |

After a long and frustrating wait for a response, we have been refused. A waiver is available, but we are wondering if the services of a lawyer are necessary to prove extreme hardship. Our reasons for extreme hardship: -If I were to move to my spouse's country of residence, my salary at MOST would be 25% of what it is currently. And that is optimistic. In reality it would most likely be 10% or less than my current salary. And that is if I could obtain employment at all. -Living conditions in the region where my husband currently lives are far below my current standard of living (no 24 hour power, no reliable public water supply, embassy advisory of high rate of crime). Relocating within the his country would mean a loss of income for my husband, with no appreciable gain in my income, along with other costs of living increasing. -Other than my husband, I have no ties to his country. I have lived in the US my entire life, as has my family and extended family. -My staying in the US, remaining married, and continuing a long distance relationship, would present a financial hardship, as well as intensify my symptoms of depression and anxiety over the situation. Has anyone self filed?

Hey everyone! My family submitted an i-130 form in JUNE 2013. Received an RFE IN MARCH 2020. Responded in MAY 2020 but we never received a notice that they received our evidence. I made an electronic inquiry asking about it and stating we never received a response to our RFE and this was their reply: "October 30, 2020 Case Was Reopened For Reconsideration On October 30, 2020, we reopened your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, and are reconsidering our earlier decision. We sent you a notice that describes how we will process your case" AND "The status of this service request is: Recently, you or your representative contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. We are still reviewing your case. We will mail you a notice when we make a decision" I called them to verify the info and they said the case was never closed or denied. Just to respond to the new notice in the mail. Anyone have a similar situation happen? Our priority date is now current after all these years. Any advice on what could of happened or the meaning of the notice? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I was doing my routine checks of US Travel Docs and the US Embassy site for any updates and I noticed that their "notices" were much shorter than usual. After reading I realized they finally got rid of their generic "we are unable to resume routine visa services at this time and are unable to provide a date to resume" statement. So obviously I freaked out a bit and went to check the visa bulletins and noticed that the K1 visas issued in the DR in September went up to a whopping 22 from the previous 3s and 4s and 0s!! Are we finally moving?? Is this it? I've sent an e-mail to our embassy for any updates and will update back when I hear from them. Have any of you noticed anything similar as well? These are their current notices: Feeling optimistic!
