US Immigration from Dominican Republic

Hi Guys,

I have a friend who has been waiting for his Visa interview in the Dominican Republic for over 10 years now because his parents who are greencard holders sponsored him and he included his daughter in the application. They had an interview scheduled for 2020 but the embassy closed a month before their interview. They haven't gotten a new interview date yet. Is this normal? I thought the embassy in DR was open now.

Hi there

My I-129 form was approved in October of last year, the case is ready, was already received by consulate office at Dominican Republic, I already fill the DS-160 and pay the fee. I can not schedule my appointment because I need more time in the Dominican Republic because I m a doctor and trying to get my license and this process take 1 year I already did 3 moths.

My question is how many time can I reschedule my appointment or I can request an extension with the consul?

I've read from other posts on this site that some embassies accept requests for joint sponsorship and others don't. I believe I'll have to go that route, as I wasn't making much money while staying in the DR with my fiance for the last year. Now that I'm back in the US, we're working on my I-129f but I still can only work part-time as I'm finishing my teaching degree.

Does anyone know if I'll be okay applying with a joint sponsor? I thought it'd be fine but after reading some stuff today I'm a bit nervous!
