Hi everyone, I am filing the addidavit of support for my now husband who arrived on a K1 visa. I have been in my current . job for almost 6 months and meet the income requirements however my previous tax reports show that I do not, as I have not been in the job long and just graduated school. Will this affect his green card acceptance?

Hello everyone!

My husband arrived to the US in June and we got married in August. A problem has come up with our Co-sponsor for income and we're not sure when exactly we will be able to file for AOS. We were wondering whats the time alloted to turn in the paperwork for AOS after married on a K-1 Visa and if there's a penalty or anything of the sort for passing the time they give you to turn this in.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Petitions for stepchildren

I'm in the processing of filling out the petitions for my step kids. In the Dominican Republic it is the custom of the children to carry the father's last name and mother's maiden name. My husband name is like that in all his legal documents. However, my stepchildren really don't have a lot of legal documents except for their birth certificate, so they go by the their first and father's last name. When filling out the petitions should I include the mother's maiden name as the kids last name? My husband says yes because that's how the passport will be done in the Dominican Republic. I say just put his last name, but I'm not sure. Does it matter? I'm uploading a copy of the birth certificates so they will see the names of the children. Does anyone know?
