Had my interview in Bogot last week and the agent requested an original birth certificate. Got the document and mailed it in. My account is already showing document received. Does anyone know how long this embassy is taking to process requested documents? This is the last thing needed for approval.

I, 26 F, am the US citizen and my boyfriend is the foreigner. He is from Colombia and does not have a tourist visa at the moment. The wait time seems to be very long in Bogota and we have heard from many friends and colleagues that rejection rates are high. We have been in a serious relationship for over a year now and would like to marry and reside in the United States in the next few years. A long engagement does sound ideal to us since we are both pursuing degrees. However, we have no idea where to start and have very little knowledge about immigration and the K1 visa process. I was recommended this page to avoid having to pay a lawyer as much without doing my research first. please send recommendations or any advice on what you think we should look into first, there seems to be loads of information and I would like to know what would be relevant to our situation. Thank you so much

A few questions about restarting the IR-1 process |

Greetings all, I will soon be restarting the IR1 process for my wife. We have been married since 2012, as we married while I was living in Bogota, Colombia for four years. Due to some traumatic life circumstances we decided to put a pause on our relationship and I returned to the United States in 2016. That changed two years later after she ended up getting her tourist VISA in 2018 and has visted me three times and will return again this summer. So the question being, should I wait to start the VISA process again until she visits on her tourist VISA this summer or should I just go ahead and start the porcess again now. Once again, we are legally married in Colombia and we got all the way up to the "waiting for the interview to happen" when we cancelled the process before, which of course I now regret, because I have to start all over again. The only reason I would delay starting the process until she visited is because I dont want any conflict with her existing toursit VISA and the IR-1 process. Thanks for any advice and help. Don
