Does short term (non-ACA/Obamacare) insurance suffice for the DS-5540 health insurance requirement? Or do we have to chose a plan through the healthcare.gov exchange? We are all still living overseas and I'm confident I'll get a job with healthcare soon, however it may not be until after my wife's ir1 interview. She's planning on either showing a screen shot from the Healthcare.gov exchange showing a plan, or just signing up for short term insurance. This will suffice, correct?

Hi, I am just starting to apply for status change with file I-485. I want to fill in the files on a computer so I can make edits keep copies easily rather than use pen and ink. I am on a Mac and the only editor I can find so far that works and allows saving edits (as a copy) is Acrobat Reader. That is good enough but using Reader several fields do not allow the correct entry. For example 23.c I=(4 class of admission is B2 and only letters are allowed as an antry. Some fields should be N/A and the "/" is not allowed. Any suggestions on a PDF editor app. and or how to remove some of the limits. Preview on the Mac does not let me save files with entries. I can only save the original blank file. Thanks Martin

Probably a silly question about birth certificate translation... |

Hello! I am in the process of uploading civil documents to NVC. Last year my husband got my birth certificate translated. It has a stamp date of translation from July 2019. I am wondering if I can upload the same translated document? Obviously my birth certificate hasn't change, but not sure if a translation done a year ago will result in an RFE? Like I said, this is probably a silly question...

Health Insurance for Son Just Visiting United States? |

PR Husband and I live in the United States My stepson lives in Chile with his mother and is a Chilean citizen He's not traveling currently due to obvious reasons and probably won't be traveling for at least another 2 years. He would just be coming to visit for a month or so and will come on the visa waiver program. I wanted to see if anyone has any insight or experience on if your employer has allowed you to carry health insurance for a child that doesn't live with you and is obviously not really tied to the United States in a way of residency, ssn etc.? Or maybe we can just outright purchase a health insurance plan for the month? I'm not really concerned about him healthwise I just feel like it would make everyone feel better if he were covered just in case something were to happen. Any advice pertaining to the topic would be appreciated! Please no comments on authorizations to leave the country or anything like that - we have extensively researched this topic and this is essentially our last question mark on this topic and are working to get all documents necessary ready for any future travel.

CEAC asking for multiple police certificates even though it shouldn't |

Hello everyone! I recently completed the DS-260. By my estimates, I should be expected to submit THREE police certificates: one from Chile, where I was born and raised, one from the UAE where I attended university, and one from China, where I currently live. Throughout my university period, I studied abroad in the UK (5 months), Hong Kong (3 months), and Italy (1 month). I listed all these addresses as I was living in those locations during different times. CEAC is asking me to submit police certificates for all three of these in addition to the places I've actually lived (see screenshot) However, according to the official webpage on travel.state.gov I should not be having to submit any of these as the time does not exceed a year, let alone 6 months, in any of those locations (see screenshot) Can I simply not upload them and upload a document for each of these police certificates explaining why? Or, am I SOL and have to get all of these (the Italy one blows my mind - I was there for 30 days only!!)?
