Had my interview today and got approval. Detroit office - very professional and friendly experience. I had a tentative completion date of April but after the interview it now shows as May. I hope they are just playing it safe. The IO said about a month until the oath ceremony. I tried to find out when the next oath ceremony would be or when the last one was but couldn t dig up a thing. in any event it was a GREAT day!!

Hello all, My fiance was looking for interview documents in P4 and it mentions the petitioner's birth certificate. As the petitioner, will my a copy of my passport suffice for proof of citizenship? I do not have my birth certificate and I used a copy of my passport for the I-129F. I know I could get a new copy, but it would take a few weeks to arrive. Should I order one and wait until it arrives to schedule or can we proceed with the interview scheduling?

My husband is getting his biometrics today and the immigration officer just told him that he needs to have his name changed on his passport before he can proceed with the AOS process (they are letting him proceed with the fingerprints today). I feel like this is BS but he s panicking. He doesn t need to change his passport to his married name, right? Plus he s French and he said they don t change their names for marriage sooooo

Hi there! I moved back home to Canada and got my last W2 after living in the US for 4 years. I am not returning. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right before I submit my return. Do I need to notify the US in anyway that I will no longer be living in the US and this will be the last w2 I get? Also I'm not exactly sure how to surrender my status as a green card holder? I asked when we came back over the border but they had no clue/don't accept green card surrenders at the border and if I need to do this prior to doing my taxes as I don't want to have to pay taxes in both countries as I hear the US will tax foreign income. Any help is appreciated. I have no other income, it's just a w2, so I don't need information about homes or other investments as I had none. Thanks!

My wife and I are going through spousal process (consular, I-130 currently pending). Today I finally got my NEXUS interview and the U.S. CBP officer/interviewer asked me what I wanted it for. I told him my wife has relocated to the US for school and that we are going through consular process for immigration. He said that I am actually not supposed to come to the U.S. *at all* during the process, not even to visit--how can this be? Strangely, he approved my NEXUS pass anyway... but warned me that they are likely to turn me back next time I come, if they ask the question. Now I am concerned about whether what he told me is true or not. Anyone else have this experience?
