Good Day,

Just looking for some further information on a CR-1/IR-1 visa. I am a Canadian, and have applied for the K-1 Visa. However, I am curious about the spousal visa and have a few questions:

1. Once you're legally married outside of the US, can I move to the US while waiting for our paperwork to go through?

2. If moving isn't an option, am I able to visit my spouse in the states (I believe 6 months is the maximum time) for long periods of time while our application is pending?

Thanks in advance!

Preparing for Sept. filing - what would you do with these "gaps"?

I'm trying to get a handle on what we'll be submitting to identify any gaps. Here's the gist:

In October 2019, we moved to another state and bought a house. As of then, we have a joint title to the house, a joint account, all bills are in both names, all good. We only did this in Sept/Oct since before that there was no real need.

We didn't have any issues with AOS, but it did make me uneasy at the time (lack of joint accounts or joint bills).

Now that we'll be able to show a year worth of entirely commingled financial life, what should I do with the 2018-2019 year? Pretend it didn't exist, or send the statements to the joint account for all two years (I added my husband to mine, so I've had it for a while) and ignore the rest since I won't be sending full two years worth of bills anyway? Or just write a letter explaining what I explained here?

How would you handle such gaps?

I am heading to the US on a K1 visa at the end of April and in light of recent events surrounding COVID-19, I want to make sure that I have insurance to cover me in case I get sick. What options are available for me? Would I be able to purchase travel insurance from Canada?

Thanks!

I have looked through different topics for an answer, hopefully someone can answer this for me or direct me to the right one. When uploading civil documents on CEAC they ask for Marriage Certificate- 1st Marriage-Final Divorce Decree . We have been married for 30 yrs but my husband ( beneficiary) was married once before he met me many years ago not long after he was out of high school. It only lasted two years but it was so long ago that he doesn t have a marriage certificate, only the divorce decree. He can t remember details..birthdate or if the other person is even still alive, so we can t try to order one. Does anyone know what will happen if we can only supply our marriage certificate and the divorce decree from his previous marriage? Thx..

Medical with Dr Lyndon Mascarenhas

Just giving a little update. I had my medical today with Dr Lydon Mascarenhas in Toronto. Overall great experience, super nice Dr. The secretary, Lilly, was very helpful as well. I called her in a bit of a panic a few days prior to my appointment because I waited till the last minute to get my family doctor to sign their immunization checklist. I thought that my yellow immunization record that I've had from birth would be enough for my family doctor to fill out their form. For whatever reason, my family doctor felt the need to have my bloodwork done in order to prove my immunity instead of just signing the form based on my past history. The problem with that is results take a week to get back and I had my appointment with Dr Mascarenhas in just 2 days. So when I called Dr Mascarenhas's office, the secretary Lilly reassured me that since I had proof of my immunizations I would be fine and I didn't have to wait for the blood work and I could just come in. So I attended my appointment and all went well. The time spent there was a little less than 2 hrs from beginning to end. The X-ray's are done downstairs in the basement level of the office, and blood work and urine samples are taken at LifeLabs across the street.

ADVICE: Get the immunization checklist completed early if you can to avoid any potential issues with proving immunity. Also I was surprised that I was required to have a flu shot even though my interview is in April, and flu shots are only required by the US November through March. Dr Mascarenhas said that because my appointment with him was today (still in March) that I had to have it. They don't do immunizations on site, so when I got home I ran to the walk in clinic and got the shot. I emailed Dr Mascarenhas a scanned copy of my updated immunization record with the flu shot included as they requested, and that's it!
