US Immigration from Canada

My wife came to the US on a visit, and since the coronavirus we decided to just apply for our i-130 and i-485 due to the circumstances. We are trying to get out paperwork done for the i-944 and it says to prove that you don't have a US credit report. She is Canadian and can't apply for a credit report here because you need a US address, which she does not have because she is just here visiting. How do you prove you that you don't have a US credit report?

So, I was one of the people who had an appointment in Montreal on the 18 that got cancelled when I arrived in Montreal on the 17. BUMMER!

Anyways, just looking for opinions and what I found out from the US Visa Info call centre.

I received my US Medical on 30 Jan 2020. So according to the 6 months validity it should be good until end of July most likely.

Now with the whole uncertainty of Covid-19, the Consulate itself isn't even sure when they will reopen to schedule appointments again,

and I expect it to be pretty backed up once they do since a lot of people will be trying to get there.

As from my discussions with the visa call centre these were my questions

1. What happens if the consulate decides to postpone the appointments further and then any applicants' US Medical then becomes expired?

Their answer: You will have to get a new US Medical.

2. What if with the whole pandemic, you have to travel to obtain a new US Medical and may not feel comfortable travelling to hotspots of the outbreak

like Vancouver/Toronto/Quebec to obtain a new Medical?

Their answer: You can attend your new Visa Appointment in Montreal, instruct the officers that you did not retrieve a new US Medical due to the reason stated and

they will offer two options:

1. Rescheduling the Visa Appointment and then getting a new US Medical.

2. Having the US Medical be couriered to the Consulate.

I did not think this was very helpful...I understand that Consulate still has to follow rules and regulations - but considering this pandemic was not in anyone's control,

something like allowing the use of expired US Medical if it has been expired no more than 3 months sounds acceptable. BUT, I digress.

My other question I had forgotten to ask them: For those of you who had already received your K-1 in your passport, with the border still closed and the possibility of it closing longer. Has the Consulate let you know if they will extend the validity of your K-1 for entry? Or will you have to start your process over again?

Not so much of a question I suppose but as a discussion on what anyone else has heard who may be in a similar situation?

Hello everyone, my husband and I applied for the CR-1 visa on Jan 30th. He lives in Canada and I live in the US ( I am sponsoring him) with everything going on right now, I am pretty upset that things are going to take so much longer.. which sucks for every person that is going through this... here are my questions:

1. Can we still visit each other? I know that the Canadian/US border is closed to non-essential travel

2. What becomes essential? I need to be with my husband during times like these

3. Would it be easier for him to come to the states or for me to go to Canada? (driving of course)

All of your answers are appreciated, I was thinking on going to see him for two weeks and (self quarantine) I just don't want to drive six hours to the border to have to turn around and I can't seem to find any information online that answers this

Hi there, I would like to have some insights, as I'm in a complete blur right now. I filed to remove the conditions on my green card and received a RFE back in October 2019. I filed and sent everything to the Vermont service center before the dead line of January 23rd 2020. My green card is extended to June 2020, but now I have no updates or information on if my case was approved. I checked the status and got this notice. Can anyone guide as what it may mean? Just looking for some information regarding the n400 civics test, to assist me in my studying.

Is the test verbal or written? (Ie. Does the interviewer ask you the questions, or do you read them from a sheet of paper)

Also, is it multiple choice or just a question and I have to provide the correct answer?
