Moving back to my country of origin while my I-751 is in process

Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen who was sponsored by my US citizen wife to ender the US in 2018. I filed my I-751 Removal of Conditions in March of this year (2020) and received an 18month extension of my Green Card via an NOA. It is currently being reviewed and could take several years (from what I understand).

If I was to seperate from my wife without a divorce (for various reasons), and return to Canada from the USA (using a UHAUL truck with my possessions), would this automatically void my I-751 application, and current CR1 status? I am wondering if they would void this when I cross the border with the intent to resume residence in Canada?

OR, could I return to Canada and leave my possessions in the USA for a lengthy period (5-10 months) while my I-751 is processing without voiding it? This might give time to sort out the marriage. Would this also void the CR1 and I-751?

Any experiences/advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi,

My card went into production last Monday (from NBC apparently) - do you know how long it takes until it is sent out? Due to COVID, I am assuming it's taking a bit longer than usual.

Thanks!

I have applied for my Canadian born child. The receipt date is Sept 11, 2017, and I have a couple questions if anyone knows the answer:

1) Does anyone has knowledge the effect of President Trump issuing executive order on stopping work visas and Green Cards till Dec 2020.

2) Does this mean new applications or ALL work on previous/pre-existing green card applications/petitions in the system will also stop till Dec 2020.

Your comments/suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks

Sam

I'm sure we're all super confused by everything so I hope I can get some clarifications

My mother-in-law's family was approved to come in on a family visa (husband, wife, son). In terms of timelines

June 2019 - Approval

Aug 2019 - Filled in DS-260, I-864

Dec 2019 - Interview at HK consulate

Jan 2020 - Immigrant visas issues

June 2020 - landed in USA, did entry interviews (which didn't amount to much from what they told me)

So they're all here finally! But I'm a bit confused by well everything else

1) When will they get their greencard?

2) The immigrant visa says 'upon endoremsent serves as temporary i-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year' - does this mean now that they're here they've got a 'temporary' 1 year green card until they get their real card?

3) is the whole thing with whatever the hell our president is doing, impact them getting their green card? I'm not sure if the ban refers to just the interviews or getting a green card once you land?

4) can they travel while waiting for the permanent card? I guess that depends on what #2 means in my questions.

5) I applied to get their SSN numbers, I assume that gets mailed? Is there a website where I can look up that status

6) here's a weird one, if 'in theory' the sponsor parent abandons his green card by leaving for more than 6 months, does that impact the son's status? Or is it more that once they're here they're all now kinda separate things?

Sorry if that's a bit rambly or unclear. I'll be happy to provide more information if needed. I realize they're pretty lucky to have even gotten in given everything that's going on.

Thanks!

DQ for I-130, what are your wait times like?

Greetings all,

I'm in the process of moving to the US from Canada (spousal visa, waiting in Canada for completion) On June 1st I received my DQ email from NVC and am to date waiting for my interview to be scheduled in Montreal. My lawyer said that typical wait times are between 3-6 months for an interview. Understandably things are not at all typical, though with so many other Visa's being postponed, I am hopeful that helps in my case.

How are others faring with wait times? Are there people currently with interviews scheduled for future Montreal dates? I haven't seen my husband since the end of February, it's getting harder as time goes on. I was advised that at this stage of my process that I cannot enter the US as I would be a flight risk. I know my husband could come to Canada (as of June 8th) but the mandatory 15 day stay, plus a quarantine on his return to the US, isn't a possibility for him with his job.

I'm curious to hear if others, especially Canadians, have seen progress with their I-130's during COVID19. Thanks in advance for any input :)
