Beyond frustrated with Montreal

So after having initial hope that the embassy in Montreal was going to start opening up after August 14th, my fianc and I kept calling to confirm. Today we just got news from them that they ve cancelled all interviews for August and this August 14th date was wrong. They say they don t know when they ll start back up for visa processing.

I m honestly getting so frustrated at this point. I ve started to call my representatives and senators so let s see where that goes. After a long 4 years of long distance and seeing my fianc only twice a year, I just wanted to move in and start our life Together but looks like there s low chances of that happening in 2020. Has anyone else called them today? Any chance the operator we called just had the wrong info?

Travelling while N-400 is pending?!

Hey Visa Journey!

I'm currently in Canada for an extended visit. I just wanted to know, will my time out of the U.S. currently affect my pending N-400 application? I applied last month under the 3 year spousal category but as of May, 2020, marked our 5 year anniversary. I'll be back in the U.S well before the 6 month mark required for Green Card holders but was just curious to know how and when USCIS gauges the time period to be eligible for citizenship. From the in information I've provided is there anything else I should be aware about? Answers are much appreciated, Thanks!!

I ve been reading different versions of this all over the internet and reddit, I was hoping someone would have a bit of clarity for me. I ve already submitted everything for the i944, so this isn t me being lazy or trying to find a way around it, just trying to get informed and hopefully help out the new people applying.

if anyone can break it down it would be greatly appreciated!

Mailing/Moving Personal Items on Tourist Visa

Hi everyone! I can t seem to find any info on the topic, but basically I came down from Canada to visit my fianc on a B2 visa in June. We got to talking and decided to go ahead with the marriage to AOS route. Since we didn t have the intention of doing this and we re originally going for the K1 visa - I m trying to figure out how to have some of my stuff mailed to me from my mom. So a couple of things:

1) Do I need to fill out any sort of paperwork? I saw a form for unaccompanied personal goods but I don t know how we would fill this out since I didn t enter under a K1, etc.

2) Is there a cheap option for Canadians to ship items? It is just some clothing and shoes. We plan to go back for the rest after the AP is approved.

3) Since it is just clothes do I even need to fill out the customs form or can I just ship it like a regular package through Canada post/USPS?

I appreciated any sort of guidance!!! :)

Can I still visit my spouse during CR-1 process?

I am a Canadian citizen and my fiance and I are considering going the route of cr-1 visa. I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether I am still permitted to visit her while the visa is pending? A Google search advised me

"It's possible to visit your spouse in the United States while your marriage-based green card application is pending. ... First, you would need to convince an immigration officer that you plan to stay only for a short time and would leave the United States before your tourist visa expire"

Is this the case for a Canadian citizen as well? Is it easy to convince an immigration officer of my intent to return? If anyone has some insight on this or first hand experience I would be so appreciative. Thank you so much

-Spencer
