DS-260 beneficiary is in the process of moving

I (the beneficiary) have just found out that I have to move in the next couple of months. I may have a place lined up for August, but it's not for sure.

I'm right about the mail my DS-260. This includes my history of addresses including my current one.

Should I wait to send in my DS-260, or can I correct it after I move?
If I should wait to correct it, do I need to do anything special if my current address on the DS-260 is different than the one that I put on my I-130?

Thank you.

Is it better to submit online or send it in?
With online submission do you just scan all your supporting evidence and documents?

My spouse and I are about to start the filing process for the CR1 visa. Is there a delay because of covid? Are they still processing applications?

Naturalize... or not... Tax Perspectives for CDN-US Dual Citizens

hey folks

I've been avoiding paperwork for a few years for a lot of reasons. Not the least of which is small children, needing a break and mostly avoidance. I've always planned to naturalize. My goal/intent has been to do the full process. That is still my goal. I've been eligible to naturalize for a few years now.

I've even just about finished my online N400 and could submit pretty quickly.

I've reached a standstill and would love to hear experiences from any Canadians who have dual citizenship, especially if you have lived in both countries. What are the tax implications (good and bad) of this? I understand there are things to consider around TFSAs and RESPs in Canada, and possibly other American investment vehicles... but i'm trying to research what it means and the impacts if we one day live in Canada again, as that has always remained on the table for my family.

I have asked my tax accountant and it wasn't a very helpful email, he's very effective at his job but "teaching a layperson" isn't it. I did find out enough to research TFSAs and RESPs and Roth's and 529k's etc. Mostly what are your experiences -- I'm sure we have others in this form who are living in Canada or have lived in Canada as a canadian-american or dual-american couple.

I've reached out to ask similar questions in a Canada site that is similar to this one in the hopes that I can learn from the experiences of others as I make some decisions. Informed decisions has always been a priority for decisions.

thanks everyone!

Concerns about flying to the US.

I wasn't sure where to post this topic, this is the closest I could get.

So a little backstory, I'm a lawful Canadian Permanent Resident residing in Canada and have been since 2009.

I still hold my UK citizenship and British passport, I never applied for Canadian Citizenship due to my Father being on an offshore rotation for work, so he doesn't have enough days present in Canada during the 5 year period the count for to qualify. My mum, my Dad and I moved as a family and wanting to wait to get it as a family.

In 2017 I met my now fianc , he's a US citizen. It took me a while before I started travelling over there, but we both live just outside Niagara Falls (him on the NY side, myself on the ON side).

So for the past 2 years, we'd take turns spending the weekend at each others houses. Since I'm still a British citizen although I live in Canada, I had to refill out the form for the I-94 every 3 months (not an official visa as the UK is part of the VWP). It was suggested by a kind CBP officer that I just get an ESTA so I didn't need to fill out the forms every 3 months. So I did.

The ESTA is still valid and will be until December of this year.

We filed for the K1 last year, we're currently at our NOA2 stage, it had just reached the consulate and we'd gotten our first ready before everything shut down for COVID-19.

My problem lies in the fact that over Valentines Day in February of this year, I did was I would normally do, I walked over the Rainbow Bridge and handed over my passport with my valid I-94 (still had a month left on it) and the CBP officer told me to sit down (which was unusual they usually just ask where I'm going, when I'm leaving and stamp my passport). He called me over some 15 minutes later after calling over a colleague and told me that I should be going home to my own country after I visit (even though I live in Canada as a permanent resident). He then told me he was going to put a note on my file and said if I tried to enter the US again he would stop my K1 from being processed. I wasn't then turned away at the border, he let me through.

I spoke to my immigration lawyer and also my fianc 's coworker spoke to her husband who works for CBP, they both said they had never heard fo this happening and told me not to worry.

Fast forward to now, with the land borders being shut down I haven't seen my fianc since March. He had started visiting me every weekend after this debacle happened at the border.

I want to fly from Toronto to Buffalo as travel is still allowed by air if you have an ESTA. I'm worried about this note on my file, even though everyone told me its BS.

I'm not sure how to go about filing a FOIA for that specific information, I've tried calling CBP twice but have been on hold for 2 hours so I gave up.

Has this ever happened to anyone else before? I hadn't overstayed, my I-94 was still valid, I was only coming in for the weekend and my ESTA was also valid.

I'm not sure why he had a problem with me but I could tell from the beginning of our interaction that it wasn't going to go well.
