Im looking for folks who had interviews at the Montreal consulate on April 16, 2024. Could you please share your case status? My friend and I both had our interviews on that day and we are stuck in ready and refused status after being approved and have not received any request for additional information or background checks. Wondering if there is some issue with that particular date since we ve seen others receive their visas issued with interviews after April 16. Concerned Thanks! Hello! I moved to the US from Canada after marrying a US citizen back in 2015. I'm currently a green card holder. I didn't change my name on anything at that time, including my immigration documents, drivers license and social security card, nor my Canadian passport. I'm not at a point where I'd like to take my husbands name officially but i'm so lost on where to even begin. I'm open to becoming a US citizen and changing my name for immigration purposes at that time, but do i need to do anything at a local point? I signed my name on my marriage certificate as my maiden name. Where do i even begin? And I worry to about not being able to travel during this potentially long processing period. any help appreciated.

Hi, As we get closer to the NVC/consular stage I am trying to piece together the lift for our convoluted situation based on the Canadian Consulate expectations... My parents were both born in Europe, they lived in a couple countries in Europe as adults and then immigrated to Canada. They have been there since the late 80's though. So based on that as it relates to the documents we need to upload and bring to the consulate interviews are there nuances????? Anyone in this forum who went through I-130's for their Canadian family members who weren't born in Canada but are Canadian citizens and residents? I'm assuming the biggest implications is for the Police Certificates? They would need to get it from Canada and the other countries they've lived in for more than 6-months in their life (or provide proof requesting the information and not being able to get it?) What about their birth certificates? Although my application for them is for them as Canadian citizens for an I-130, do they expect them to have a Canadian birth certificate (not possible, they weren't born there). Do they need to submit their birth certificate from country they were born and if so, then i need to get those translated by a certified translator? We did that for their marriage certificate from Austria. Any other "heads up" things related to a similar case so we aren't hit with a bunch of "unknowns" requested and delays would be GREAT!

I-864 vs. I-864A and how many times to submit for your parents???? I am trying to be proactive with approval in the coming month and what i need to prepare for.... - I applied for both of my parents I-130
- My husband and I both work, but also have a child who is listed as a dependent
Am I anticipating correctly that I will be submitting the below forms? - x2 --- I-864 Forms (1 for dad, 1 for mom)
- x 2 --- I-864A Forms (on behalf of my husband, and 1 for dad and 1 for mom)
- Since the other household member is a toddler, assuming no form on their behalf needs to be completed?
My income/family will cover the 125% min threshold they need show on the website for a household of 5 (i.e., 3 of us + my 2 parents). But should I still do a I-864A also for my parents showing they also have income due to retirement income? - My parents are retired, but what if they live off of investments / supplemental income?
- Do I do a I-864A on behalf of one parent for the other parent?
So confused....

Greetings all CO N400 filers. I had my N400 interview April 18, 2024. Overall the interview/test was very straightforward and the officer was personable. A good experience and quite fast, around 30 min or so. Plan to be there around 30 min ahead of your scheduled time to give yourself a chance to get through security and get to the waiting area. I think the biggest stressor is likely traffic, so give yourself extra time. We were coming from the north end of the state, so we gave ourselves 2 hours to get there and that was about right. Take-aways: -Same day oath ceremonies no longer offered in Denver as of Jan 2024 unless you live 200 miles away from the office or there is some kind of emergency. I requested a same-day oath ceremony when the officer gave me this information. She said that they used to do this, but they don't offer it anymore. Something about not having enough staff who are qualified to do the ceremony around that day. She said that only in cases of an emergency would they be able to scramble one together or if the applicant's home is over 200 miles away. So if you live within 200 miles of the office, don't expect a same-day oath ceremony. Worth asking, but be prepared to have to come back for oath ceremony -Sign up for electronic notices so you know well in advance when OC is - Even the USCIS officer commented on our CO post office delays. In a previous oath ceremony a few months prior, only half of the people showed up. They found out over half did not get their paper notices in the mail. She strongly advised signing up for e-notices through the online account, as that is much more reliable. I received my notice electronically the evening of my interview notifying me that my oath ceremony is 3 weeks later. Hope this helps!
