I-485 Edition 10/24/2024 Part 4 Question 5 Previously Applied for Permanent Residence IN United States

In 2011 My mother filed an I-130 on my behalf as the unmarried child of an lpr. When she began the petition she listed my address as hers as we were living together at the time. We received a notice in 2013 that the petition had been approved but I was not eligible to file AOS and the file was being sent to NVC for consular processing. In 2017 the approved visa was received. An interview was finally available in 2019 however by that time my mother no longer met the requirements for the affidavit of support and abandoned the application. So in part 4 of my current AOS (which my USC husband and I are filing concurrently with the I-130) do I answer yes or no to the question 1- "have you ever applied for an immigrant visa at a U.S. Embassy or consulate abroad?" My mother applied for me and we did not make it to the next stage. 2-"Have you ever applied for permanent residence WHILE in the United States?". The original petition had the U.S. address I was living at on it. Thank you for persevering with this wordy question and thank you in advance for any input.

Hi everyone! Want to ask about preparing the packet.

1. Do I need a table of contents page?
2. I see some people are writing a cover letter is this necessary?

3. Planning on sending at least 20 to 30 photos. Let me know if that s a lot. Do I need to include photos from the wedding or everything after the wedding up till present?

Apart from that, this is what I am including:

  • Bank statements since Aug 23 because this is when she got her first job in the US. This also shows mortgage payments going out every month from transfers from our individual accounts.
  • Drivers Licenses with same address
  • Home owner insurance with both names
  • Car insurance with both names
  • Shared Health insurance dental vision (some are from my employer, some from her employers)
  • Utility bill with both names (GAS/Electric)
  • Joint credit card with both names (the statement only shows my name so planning on sending a photocopy of the cards with same number)
  • 1 Joint Tax return and one married filing separately because first one was when she not yet a green card holder
  • Beneficiary documents from both of us where we have listed each other as beneficiaries on retirement accounts
  • Pictures of bdays, family visits to in-laws where we had a belated anniversary party with both of our families, her family at our house, My family at her house in her country, Christmas pics with extended family etc.
  • Flights together/Trips (will also have pics from some of these)
  • EZPass account
  • Triple AAA membership
  • The check we are sending with the packet for payment is coming from our joint account with both of our names

I feel like we are at a point where we are stressing and overthinking this, but we ve had such a bad experience, even getting the CR1. They had sent us a card with a typo and we had to go through the whole I-90 process and finally got the correct card but now it s time to file this sigh

Affidavit of Support and Tax information

Permission to post admin. Thank you.

We are still waiting for a case number but I want to make sure I am prepared and knowledgeable about the forms

I have a question about the tax information for the past 3 years, since my fiance is young he has had part time jobs before and didn't last. In 2022 is when he's got a full time, quit it and did 3 other part time jobs. Until 2023 when he worked on his current job, now fulltime. He earns a minimum of $16 per hour. Works 8 hours or more in a day with 2 days off.

He's an office admin there and it's a fulltime, papers are good too. I just want to know if this is sufficient? Or do we need a co-sponsor? We're both single and no kids, so it's only the two of us. But he only plans to get an apartment when Im there, since he's the only child helping his mom with the rent.

Will there not be any issues with his tax for the past 3 years too considering his previous work both part time and fulltime.

Thanks very much!

Divorce decree caused temporary NVC case rejection, will a stamp on an efiled document be okay?

I went to the Montreal consulate for my interview with my binder of documents and thought we had everything. My husband has previously been divorced and it was in a different state from where he lives, so the final divorce document was esigned by the lawyer and judge, then sent through email to my husband. So I printed that off and thought it would be good, since it had legal signatures on it. When I went to the immigration interview I didn't even get passed the document verification window once the person saw that document. They said it needed to be a certified copy of his certificate. So, now, he sent a request to Texas for a certified copy of his divorce certificate and what they sent him was his divorce decree with a stamp on each page. There's no like, certificate so we're concerned the same thing is going to happen. So it is technically a verified document, and since it was efiled, this is what's available. The photo of the grainy "Signature Certificate" is what he got, and also what he got back after the county send him his "verified" copy. The stamped image is the stamp on each page that classifies it as verified.

I guess I'm just hoping for information on if this is going to be okay or are we going to get turned away. I'm so nervous about getting turned away again.
