Montreal Consulate - Update DS-260 before Interview Needed, or not? |

My parent's have their IR-5 interviews coming up in a week. Montreal takes months to book interviews so their DS-260's were completed in October and November of 2024. They traveled to the U.S. to visit us for Christmas. Which means, that trip is not listed on the DS-260 we submitted last year since it didn't happen yet. Also, I have new W-2's but not a new tax return transcript (since April 15 is tax return day, and April 9 is their interview, so that new tax return isn't due yet and the most current tax year I assume is still 2023 since 2024 isn't due until April 15). Do we need to try to upload these additional documents? Can we even do that since the DS-260 is locked? Or do they simply have to let the consulate know that since the DS-260 was submitted, and how long between that and the given interview date, they have travelled to the U.S. again once, and this is their daughter's news W-2/pay stubs? Would appreciate the advice so they don't have a smooth sailing interview and we are prepared/proactive on all the things that could randomly come up... thanks!

Alien Registration Requirements - is it a Blanket Requirement? |

Forgive my ignorance if this has been posted, but is there actually a list of the visa types aside from "visitors to the US staying more than 30 days" that have to register with USCIS? Is it a blanket requirement? Are dual intent visa holders required to register? I ask because I mentioned to my friend with a TN visa that I believe he needs to register because it's a non-immigrant visa stay in excess of 30 days. He was going to verify with his corporate lawyers because he assumed that as an employment visa, he was exempt. Simply curious.

Applied for CR-1, visiting USA but wanting to extend trip |

Hi all, Apologies if this is the wrong category for this question but I'm married to a Canadian and we applied for the CR-1 on August 2024. Since then, he's come to visit and has been here since November 2024 (132 days ago today). He was supposed to go home in January but decided to extend his trip until April since he's allowed to be here for 182 days. As for finances, he freelances when he's home in Canada (not doing work in USA don't worry :-) he has savings and I make enough to support us both). We would like for him to stay until May since that's the final 6 months that's allowed. My question is, will this impact our CR-1 application if he stays for this long? As per the new executive order, we did register here: https://www.uscis.gov/alienregistration but since he's Canadian he's supposedly exempt from fingerprinting but at least has to make an account and register. Thanks for any advice!

Help With Extending I-129F Approval |

I am looking for some help/guidance with our current petition. After 3 long months, my fianc and I have received Packet 3 from the Montreal Consulate, and are currently waiting for the Police Certificate to arrive so we can submit all documents to continue with the process. However, our I-129F approval expires very shortly, and we will certainly not have an interview scheduled before the approval expires. Due to most of the 4 month period being taken up by waiting for the consulate to give us our next steps, I have tried requesting an extension both through email (to Canada.Visas@gdit-gss.com or Canada.ACS@gdit-gss.com) and phone number (438-793-1947 or 514-398-9695) and get the same response back that those contacts are only for interview scheduling service, and to go to the website for the correct information on how to contact properly. This is the contact information the website displays, so we are stuck in an infinite loop without being able to get ahold of anyone who can help. Does anybody else have any other contact information to speak with someone or experience with how to do so? If not, is this something we should even be focused on doing? (Most forums and videos online state that once we complete all documents and attend the interview, that they will automatically extend the validity there and then). Consensus says it's not something to be worried about, but I thought I'd ask for help rather then let it be and show up just to be denied as we are this far along in the process. Thank you!
