Biometrics Timeframe Question
3:13 pm August 11, 2020

Good day all,

I submitted my wife's I485 AOS back in April and received an RFE not too long after (I needed to submit my proof of citizenship). Immigration acknowledged this receipt on May 27, however we have not heard back regarding a date for biometrics. It's now nearly 3 months. It seems the Minneapolis service center is open so I'm wondering if this is a COVID delay or if I should inquire further.

Any thoughts?

Interview Cancelled?

So my wife filed for AOS in April of last year (K-1 Visa applicant). Our interview was scheduled in March of this year, but a week before the date USCIS cancelled it (Interview Cancelled and Notice Ordered) due to Covid-19 and office closings. Shortly after that, status changed to Case is ready to Be Scheduled for an Interview, and it has been like that since.

Today, the status just updated to Interview Cancelled (On July 29, 2020, we cancelled or descheduled the interview scheduled for your Form I-485. We will notify you by mail if the appointment is rescheduled, a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you).

Could this mean there is an issue? Or are they waiving the interview? Or cancelling for some scheduling issue and will re-schedule again?

Wondering if anyone has recently has this status.

Thank you.

K-1 visa, I-129: Additional Information

Hello,

In the I-129f form there is section 8 which allows you to add additional information for your petition. Both myself and my beneficiary have had a ton of addresses in the last 5 years. My questions are:

1. Do we need to put every single address down we have lived in including back and forth between residencies for maybe a week or so in between?

2. When we attach a separate paper to list all of our addresses, how do we label that paper? For example, title: Additional addresses for petitioner/beneficiary, and number each item from a-j? Do we sign and date each paper we use?

3. If we need to do one for employment as well, do we do it similar to our addresses sheet?

Additionally, a few more questions:

4. Do we include documents of my beneficiary's court case in obtaining sole custody over her son, a K-2 in the package?

5. Do I need to make a copy of the back of my birth certificate if it is nothing but white?

6. Do i need to sign and date the copy of the birth certificate?

7. Similar to the photos of us together, does additional evidence such as chat logs, itineraries, passport and visa stamps, etc. need to each be individually signed and dated?

8. In regards to everything in the package, am I the only one signing the evidence for each of us, except the letter of intent, or do we each sign our own information accordingly?

Sorry for so many questions but we are already nervous and stressed enough we can't have any issues or mess ups when submitting next month. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Just got my second $1200 stimulus payment (based on joint filing of 2019 taxes with immigrant wife with SSN)

Wife arrived on K-1 in September 2019, we got married in November.

Didn't file 2019 taxes early in 2020 because we were waiting on wife's SSN.

Got $1200 stimulus payment in April(?) based on my 2018 tax filing as single.

Wife got SSN and I filed jointly for us on June 13.

Today I see another $1200 pending credit to my bank account for stimulus payment.

I had been led to believe I wouldn't get this $1200 payment until filing my 2020 taxes next year.

Just wanted to share this data point, didn't know where else to put it.

IRS rejected e-file joint filing my wife's new SSN, should I paper file or wait a few weeks and try to e-file again?

My wife recently got her social security card. We are still waiting for her green card interview.

Her card was issued on June 3.

I tried to e-file out taxes today, married filing jointly with her new SSN.

The e-filing was rejected.

I've seen conflicting info online - some say paper filing is always required the first year after issuance of SSN. Some say it just takes ten days or so for the SSN to get updated in the IRS system.

Should I file a paper return or wait a few weeks and try again?
