Status Termination date on driver permit for conditional Green Card Holder

We live in New York State. My wife had a non driver state ID (a REAL ID) which expired last year. She got this before her green card, based on her EAD.

Last August she received her 2 Year Green Card. A few days ago she got her driver permit.

The temp Real ID permit (waiting for Permit Card in mail) says Status Terminates on her birthdate, 2025.

Firstly, I thought her status doesn t end, even if her green card expires.

Secondly, where did they come up with this just under 5 year date on her birthday? If anything, I figured they would make it expire when her 2-year green card expires?

Can anyone explain what this is? The permit is supposed to be good for 5 years so I ll have to wait and see the expiration date on the actual card when we get it.

Also, on a second note, does anyone know how New York works with Driver s Licenses? I know they don t accept extension letters. So if she gets a license before this card expires, will the license expire when the 2 year card does, or is it for a longer term.

And I assume if she doesn t get the license before it expires, then she would have to wait for the 10 year green card to get it (or get an i551 stamp, if even possible).

Thank you for any input.

Do I really need a joint sponsor?

I returned to the US after 2 years abroad a few months ago. After handling some family affairs and settling back in the US I am now starting a new job this week.

Our petition is at the embassy and I am guessing our interview will be sometime in the next 1-3 months. I will be making well over (+2x) the Federal Poverty Guidelines starting this week. I have no tax returns for the last 2 filing years as I wasn't required to file. I have a joint sponsor lined up but I can't seem to find an answer as to whether or not I will actually need a joint sponsor now that I am working. Can I sponsor my fiance by myself or do I still need a joint sponsor?

Any chance of getting an interview sooner than the embassy schedule?

The embassy schedule shows that their interviews are now out to Feb 10. This is fine, I'm not trying to make it happen sooner. I'm just wondering if we file the DS160 now, is there a chance that they could schedule us for an earlier date? I'm trying to coordinate with my joint sponsor and I don't want to get caught off guard.

Interviewer couldn't approve I-485 today because of possibly "expired" medical?

My K-1 fiancee had her medical exam in Cambodia in June (I think) 2019. I may have been in May, may have been July.

She then interviewed for her K-1 visa and entered the USA in August 2019.

She filed her I-485 application for adjust status in November 2019.

Her AoS interview was originally scheduled for April, then rescheduled for today.

Everything went OK at the interview today, but the interviewer said he couldn't approve today because the medical was over a year old now (more than a year before the interview), and he had to check if there was a COVID-related extension.

I told him that I'm not an expert on this stuff ,but I thought filing the I-485 within a year of the medical exam preserved its timeliness and that the interview date then didn't matter.

He said he would have to look into it and talk to some people but we might be getting an RFE for more medical info.

Any thoughts?
