US Immigration from Belize

I have been trying to figure out if K1 or CR1 is the better route to take. K1 would be the preferred route. But I have read a lot about automatic denial crimes. My fiance (the intended petitioner) was in a street gang in his youth, as a youth he was convicted of murder and in his early 20s he was convicted of attempted murder. He served 25 years. He has restarted his life and been living a regular life for a few years.

I am aware of his crimes and history so there would be no surprises for me.

Are these crimes reason for automatic denial? Should we just get married and do a spousal petition instead or are there known successes for K1 visas with these circumstances?

We had also thought to go to an immigration lawyer but I wanted to check here first.

hey guys, i am currently applying for my AOS form for k1 visa. so i would like to know what document i should summit with the affidavit of support. just wanna double check to see if i have everything ready in order to send it.

Probably an obvious question, but how do I find my Field Office/Service Center? On my receipt notices, it came from the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, MO,. I'm trying to check processing times with the tool on the USCIS site and that's not an option to select when trying to view processing times. I also live in Dallas, TX. Is something wrong here? My attorney mailed the AOS package to the USCIS Lockbox in Chicago, IL. I've gotten as far as the fingerprinting appointment so I doubt anything is wrong and I'm just being paranoid about a slow processing time, but I'll be thankful for any info!
