Request for initial evidence --- twice??

Hi All!

I was hoping someone could help clarify this very confusing chain of events that happened today.

April 1 2022-- We were sent a request for initial evidence for form 1-485

We sent back all the evidence two weeks ago and I was so happy when this morning our status finally changed to:

We received your response to Form I-485 to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

However......that relief was quickly turned into confusion because only a couple hours later our status again became:

Request for Initial Evidence Was Sent!

I am so confused, I do not know if this is a technical error or a mistake as to whoever is reviewing our file? Or is this a possibility? Any bit of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just for context we initially sent everything in December 2021, and had a biometrics appointment in January 2022.

Thanks!

Applying for Passport vs. Travel

Hi everyone,

I received my citizenship early February, which after 7 long years has been a huge sigh of relief!!

Currently I would like to finally travel back home to Europe but I am having the hardest time figuring out where to apply for a passport? Maybe I'm not knowing where you can go to apply for one?

The USPS offices assigned for passports are all booked for the month and beyond. Half of them don't even offer the service anymore.

I want to go home in June or July, given the passport production time in addition to this insane wait time - it's not even looking like that's possible?

Can I travel with my European passport to Europe and use my CA ID to come back in, maybe along with my certificate of naturalization?

Are there any other places that handle passport applications?

Just trying to find out how I can make it happen to finally go back home in June. It's important I can.

Thank you all, it seemed like such a simple last thing to do but I've really been scratching my head here lol.

Nele

Denied boarding with ESTA, what documents do I put in I -129F?

Hi there,

I planned going to the United states to marry my Fianc e. I was stupid, did not purchase a return ticket. The ticketing officer did not allow me to board the plane after talking on the phone with DHS. I never lied and said my purpose was to marry. He told me to apply for a visa. Now, after looking up information this 'travel not authorized' ESTA can cause issues during the application of a K-1 Visa. Does anybody have any experience with what kind of document I have to file with the I-129F? I wrote an explanatory about the situation but I don't know if there are any other documents.

Thank you for sharing your Experiences

Do we need a joint sponsor?

So we submitted our AOS application in Jan 2021. Our interview is in 3 weeks and I m wondering how to handle the financial stuff.
when we sent our application, my husband was employed. I submitted his last 3 years of taxes, pay stubs, letter of employment. Everything got accepted.

now my husband just quit his job so he can stay with me and our newborn baby at home. (Paternity leave wasn t an option since he works in oilfield and they don t really give days off like that). So he decided to just quit and now he is in the recruiting process for a new job. So basically we don t have current income but his tax return for 2021 shows that he made above the poverty guideline, it was around 70k. Really don t know if we should get a joint sponsor or his tax return from 2021 would be enough to show that we are good. How does it work?
