Hi all, Unfortunately, my husband's AOS interview (from k1) was canceled due to the pandemic and has yet to be rescheduled. His combo card will expire at the end of August. Our application for renewal was received this week. I've heard conflicting info regarding processing times - are they the same for renewals as for initial applications (5.5-7.5 months)? We're planning to visit his family for Christmas and after our previous horrible experience waiting for the first combo card I'm already nervous. Was so hoping to avoid this.... We filed our AOS back in November 2018. Never thought we'd still be waiting

Hi all, We've been looking through a lot of topic here on Visajourney but and filled it out accordingly but then we found other topics that said something slightly different and our situation is slightly different than those topics soooo- we're hoping you guys can help us out. Me - applicant Partner - Sponsor - Unemployed (full time student) MIL - Joint-sponsor - Employed, meets the financial criteria - also supports my partner FIL - ?? - Retired 10+ years At first we set it to 2 households. 1) My partner and myself 2) MIL and FIL. So my partner fills out the I-864 MIL fills out the I-864 FIL doesn't fill out anything because he doesn't contribute his income However, my partner is MIL's dependent so he would be part of her household, yes? Which would mean we're all in one household together? This wouldn't change anything to who is filling out the I-864 though, that is still my partner and MIL. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I hope you're all safe and well! Like many, I lost my job due to Covid and am looking to file for unemployment benefits. My work situation is a bit odd: I left a (toxic) W2 job in February, to start at a start-up company a week later, as an independent contractor. One week into the start-up company job, the owner undergoes a massive loss and dissolves my job. Three weeks after that, i'm in my 3rd round of interviews at a company I already had a relationship with, this was as good as a sure deal. Covid happens, job put on hold. Now here we are, unemployed. My question: will applying for unemployment affect my citizenship application? I know we sign wavers saying we won't become a liability to the State, does that include unemployment? I'm not exactly sure how it all works. Thank you!

Hello, My wife is a U.S. citizen and we have been living abroad for 1.5 years. We filed an I-130 in January and have recently moved. Filing our change of address has proven to be difficult if not downright impossible: the AR-11 form doesn't allow international addresses. We called the USCIS support but the agent was unable to modify our address. We sent a message through the USCIS Inbox but they answered that they couldn't call us (the USCIS profile doesn't allow international phone numbers). We tried Ask Emma, without success. I noticed in an older post here that people in the same situation have been registering a family member's address in the U.S. as the mailing address. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I've been looking through the i944 and it seems to require documentation that you've studied English. While we were taught English in school, I don't have an actual certification, other than report cards that have English listed as one of our classes. Would this be enough or do I need to enroll in ESL classes and just deal with the cost that comes with those, even though they'll probably just go over things I've already learned at school? I'm not even going to try to put Dutch on there, because even though it's my native tongue, it was bundled with a few other classes into one for the last couple of years of my studies. If I'm going to have to deal with the cost of getting certified, one is more than enough.
