Different Name on Passport vs. Birth Certificate for I-130 |

My wife and I are getting ready to file the I-130 and are encountering a problem regarding my name. My first name on my birth certificate and marriage certificate is "Anna-Sophia", but on my passport, it has always been "Anna Sophia" without the hyphen, as Austrian authorities don't print "-" on first names of identification documents. They do, however, print hyphens in last names - my last name on my passport has a hyphen. Throughout the application, we have always spelled my name as "Anna-Sophia", as that is what the marriage certificate says. We are now wondering if we will encounter a problem, because the name on my bills and our joint bank account doesn't include a hyphen, as it was made using my passport as ID. I know it is not time to send in my copy of birth certificate or passport yet, as I am the beneficiary, but they do have an I-94 from when I last travelled to the USA on an ESTA with no hyphen, and our marriage certificate with a hyphen. Should we include a clarification of the situation in of my passport vs. marriage certificates in the application? Or let them know when our case has reached NVC stage? Or should we just not say anything? If anyone has ever been in a similar situation, I would very much appreciate your help!

Hi, I am getting ready to file my I-130 and have read around here that affidavits from family/friends have little impact on your application. However, I wonder if it makes my application weaker to leave them out? Has anyone had success without adding affidavits? Also, do the people writing the affidavits have to be US citizens? Thanks!

I'm in the process of assembling my ROC package. On the USCIS website it says 'Submit copies of as many documents as you can to establish this fact, to demonstrate the circumstances of the relationship from the date of the marriage to the present date". So do I not need to resubmit anything from our relationship prior to our wedding (like evidence I submitted for AOS)? Also, should I submit a copy of our marriage certificate? The way I read it I don't have to but I don't want to mess up by misinterpreting the instructions.

Translating Your Own Electricity Bill for I-130 |

Hi everyone, My wife, a U.S. citizen, and I, an Austrian citizen, both study and live in Vienna, Austria, and will be applying for my I-130 soon, to hopefully move to the US once we are done with grad school. We live together and pay our bills together. For the I-130, we are adding our elecrity bill as additional proof of bona fide marriage. Since our electricity company only issues bills in German, I was wondering if this needs to be officially translated, or if I can do it myself. I was also wondering if it is enough to simply attach a short explanation of the bill in English. Thank you for your help!
