Hello everyone! Help please! I haven't applied for my Social Security Number but we are already getting married tomorrow. Is it okay to get married first without the SSN? Can I apply after I get my marriage certificate and can I apply for AOS without my SSN? Will there be a problem if I get married first, apply for SSN then apply for AOS? Thank you! @Greenbaum

Hey guys, I'm posting this here just to grab some opinions, because as much as I look, I just keep flipflopping between whether I need to be concerned about this or not. I was feeling pretty okay until earlier today, when someone else on this forum mentioned that they were denied a visa today based on a "very minor" 40-year-old conviction. That started my search up again and now I've just confused myself. So here goes: The Tl;dr version of the story was that my license and registration expired at the same time (as I'd registered my car the day I got my license), it was the first time they were rolling around to be renewed, and I missed the date. I got pulled over, and had to go to the magistrates court. I explained the circumstances, the judge was very nice and basically just told me to be more careful, gave me a fine and a suspended license for 3 months (it's a mandatory sentence they have to impose here) and sent me on my way. I'm now DQ'd, and both my standard AFP check and my full disclosure AFP check have come back clean. I did disclose all of this on my DS260 form (of course), and provided my court documents as well. What I don't know is whether these count as traffic violations or not. Obviously I know they seem somewhat minor (not that I don't fully understand the potential ramifications should I have had an accident. I shudder to think...), but given there are multiple of them (all from the same event) I'm a little worried. Any thoughts?

Hi guys! I arrived in the US in July and the social security offices were closed. So I applied for my SSN via the AOS process in August. I am not sure how long that will take for EAD/AP but I have already done my biometrics. This was disappointing but not a huge deal as I don't want to drive during winter as I am new to snow and my daughter and I were successfully added to my husbands health insurance - which I have used no issue. However, we received a letter each the other day requesting SSN for both of us. I know that it isn't a legal requirement to provide one. So, is this just a simple phone call stating so or should I be prepared to argue my case. Does anyone have any advice? On a side note I believe now finally the local social security office is open. However, it is too late to go there and request one right. I94 has expired and I changed my name to my husbands. So, it's just a matter of sitting tight until that combo card, correct? Thanks!

Hello all! I am USC. My spouse and I live in Australia. I have lived here for the past 4 years. Our petition has advanced to NVC. I am a performer, and my primary income in Australia comes from performing. NVC websites says the following: "If you completed Form I-864, I-864A, or I-864EZ and the income reported on this form or your tax transcript reflects income below the poverty guidelines for the year the form was submitted, submit evidence of your income. If you are currently self-employed in any of the following ways, you do not need to obtain submit evidence of income: Babysitter, elderly caretaker, construction worker, handyperson, housekeeper, landlord, musician, nanny, seamstress, tailor, artist, or writer." So obviously because I don't have employment in the US, my income will appear insufficient, but according to this wording, I don't need to show evidence of income. Can someone explain to me how this makes sense? The one person we can approach about being a joint sponsor is a bit of a stretch, so if we don't need to have one, then that's ideal. OTHER QUESTION My spouse is previously married. His "Licence and Certificate of Marriage" from the State of California has "CUSTOMER COPY" watermarked on it, and does not have a State File Number nor a Local Registration Number, and it has not been signed by the Local Registrar. However, it does have the original signatures from all of the parties involved. Will this be suitable for NVC or should I order an authorised copy through VitalChek? Thanks for your help!

Hello, I submitted my GC application (marriage based to US citizen) on 23rd September (they received it 29th by FedEx and we got notifications 2 weeks ago from USCIS). I didn't include the form I-944 since it wasn't required until 22nd September and I had no idea that changed on the 22nd. Does anyone have any recommendation of what to do? Will they just send me an RFI for this eventually? Or should I just fill it out now and submit it? If so, how do I attach it to my application, there doesn't seem to be a field for the Alien Number? Thanks!
