The USPS absolutely screwed us over and recommended we send our i-485 as registered mail with priority shipping back on Nov 25th. After it still hadn't arrived at USCIS in mid December we opened a case at USPS and they informed us that it was our fault for sending it registered and recommended we put an intercept on it and ship out a new set of paperwork at priority express, so we did that. Our second i-485 sent via priority express has arrived already, but we have received an email that the intercepted original package can't be delivered to our address and it is now headed back to USCIS. The useless USPS is claiming they can't see where the package is and can't even tell us why the intercept failed. We also can't even get USCIS to talk to us to advise us what to do because we don't have a case number yet. What will happen if both sets of paperwork reach the USCIS? I already put a stop on the check in the original i-485 paperwork, so at least I won't be out that $1200+ hopefully, but we're worried it will get both sets of documents rejected and further delay her work permit. Does anyone know how we can contact USCIS without a case number to tell them to destroy the second set of documents if we can't get USPS to actually do their job and intercept it in time?

Hey everyone, I sent my application a few weeks ago via mail,(because I applied for a waiver fee) they received it just yesterday due to Covid and Christmas. (delayed) I was wondering how long it would take from receiving application to receiving a letter in the mail for NOA1. I have looked at Timelines on here but most people have applied online and Covid has effected things as well. I am thinking it will be a month or so. I sent my application to Chicago if they means anything Thanks!

Hello, We are planning on filing AOS, EAD, AP together. My fianc will be working once he receives his EAD. If he were to receive Medi-Cal during the 6.5 to 8 months of waiting period for his EAD, would it affect his AOS? I'm currently finishing up my last year of college and won't be working. We have a good amount of savings in the bank, and we are able to get a co-sponsor who will meet the income requirement if needed. It seems as long as it is less than 12 months, he wouldn't be considered a public charge? https://www.medicaid.gov/federal-policy-guidance/downloads/sho19004.pdf

Hey guys, My partner doesn't work and we are relying on her Mother being our co-sponsor. My partner has never filed any US taxes either. Her Student visa here in Australia ends at the end of 2021 and she will be returning back to the states then, we are hoping that the visa will approved by then (yes high hopes i know). I've seen heaps of people being denied their K1 visa even though the co-sponsor earns double over the threshold and i'm stressing as i do not want to let this happen in the process. What is the likely chance that this will happen to us? I know the Sydney Embassy accepts co-sponsors although i know that the form I-134 has almost no legal weight which is often the denial, which could leave me potentially ineligible for the visa. My partner has no cash assets or any what so ever. She relies on her mum and I support her here as I work as a nurse. I would really prefer as much advice on K1 visa or any other solution about getting married together in the states. I understand the CR1 route Co-sponsor form is legally binding, would this be a better option? I just don t want to be declined and have to start the process over again. Just want the safest option. Thanks so much for everyone's amazing advice.
