Processing time from NVC to Interview

Hi Visa Journey friends,

Does someone know if the wait time from submitting documents to the NVC to the Interview has increased? I was told last year the average was 2-3 months, but when looking at the recent processing times it seems like this has increased? Perhaps because of current political events?

Any ideas/observations would be greatly appreciated!

Fiance in the U.S. on B2, K1 already approved with Embassy Receipt Confirmation - Considering Abandonng K1 - Thoughts?

My Fiance was approved for a 6 month entry, we are past the 90 day window. His embassy also confirmed receipt of the File with Case number from NVC. All we need now is to submit our papers to the embassy and fly back to his country for the interview.

Our concern is in convenience - please don't attack. We are starting our family and it will cost us more time and money to fly back to his country to finalize things.

On top of this, we need him to start working. We are afraid that if we continue with the consular processing with the K1 visa that the Adjustment of Status will take longer than if we were to get married now and file for AoS immediately.

Any risks in doing this as opposed to following through with the K1?

Hello,

As of last Friday I received an email stating we are ready to get an interview... which is great news!!!! Below is a copy paste from part of the email.

The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate General overseas.

NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in SYDNEY, Australia to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable).

Does anyone have an idea on the timeline for when an interview would likely be? I have looked everywhere I know and nothing really gives direct info. I have seen that interviews are usually on the last Tuesday of the month. Is that true? Is there anyway or anyone to email to try and get an interview sooner?

We where hoping to get everything wrapped up by years end but not sure as time is running out. My brother is having twins the second week of January and we wanted to be able to get home to Ohio for them!!

Thanks for your help.... I'm still a rookie at all of this!!

Hello,

I'm about to have my AOS interview and have some questions about next stage. I (applicant) understand I must file for removal of conditions within 90 days of expiration and I have to be in the states at least 18 months out of the three years before applying for citizenship.

Do I have to be in the US to file removal of conditions from GC? Do I have to be in US to apply for citizenship also?

Understand we have to be present for another interview so I am just trying to figure out when to be here in the US and when we can be in Australia.

How long after filing/expiration is that usually scheduled?

How long can I be out of US?

I have read conflicting statements about either not more than 6 months or 12 months as we are also in the process of having my wife ( USC) gain Australian citizenship. Understand if its longer than 12 months with due cause I can possibly get a consulate visa but don't think I will need to go down that path if I can help it.

After AOS interview approval, if all goes well how long until I get a SSN? I neglected to apply for one before k1 expired...

Also if I am approved for GC, can I apply with my wife for marketplace health insurance? Interview is the 12/6 and open enrollment ends 12/15... But I think I need a SSN to apply.

Thanks and really thankful for this community.

DS-3025 not "complete" because it wasn't flu season

My husband's medical for his K1 visa was done in April 2019. All his vaccines were up to date, and since it wasn't flu season, he didn't get the flu vaccine. On his DS-3025, the Civil Surgeon, who did his medical, didn't check "complete" but wrote, in the "Remarks" section "K-1 visa will be complete once influenza vaccine given". On the form, Influenza is marked with a "B" and "K Visa applicant electing not to be vaccinated at this examination" is checked. His AOS interview is coming up, and we wondered if this is going to be an issue. We think the vaccine wasn't required at the time because it was April, although it was flu season in Australia. Anyway, the doctor's remark has us concerned that maybe he needs to update his vaccine record with a civil surgeon and obtain an I-163.
