In short: we met as students in Italy in 2003 (we both minored in Italian), spent 6 months there together and then surprised ourselves by not wanting it to end. So, we started the whole long-distance fun and then, with Fran in her last year of university, we decided that once she graduated we'd find some way to finally be in the same country. We'd talked about the fact that we definitely wanted to marry each other many times, so that seemed the way to go!
