We met on January 10th 2009 when I was living and working in the US as a teacher on a J1 visa. Dated for 7 months but then I had to leave in July 2009 as I lost my teaching job due to county budget cuts. So we decided to 'date' via skype to see how long distance would work out. I then returned to the US for a 2 month vacation and stayed with him Sep-Oct 2009. We then resumed our skype dating, and he came to visit me Dec 09-Jan 10. He proposed on Dec 31st at midnight! Finally got visa after 212 days! It was worth the wait and prvoes that long-distance dating CAN work if you are meant to be together and willing to make the effort :)
