  1. Thank you so much. You're a life saver.
  2. To provide more information: my sister is a full-time employee and receives a W-2. She can also get an employment letter from her work. My mom, on the other hand, retired last year and receives only Social Security as her income. She does not file a tax return for 2024 because her income is below the IRS filing requirement. In my understanding to the question above, my mom needs to provide an estimate of her expected annual income for this year, based on her monthly Social Security payments? and for my sister, she will provide expected annual income for this year based on her working hours and pay rate? am I correct? Appreciate any help!
  3. Thank you. I will move this post to the right forum.
  4. Thank you so much! I will keep you posted. Fingers crossed everything goes well.
  5. Sorry, I still can’t find the right forum to post in. Would you be able to direct me to it? Thanks! As for my situation, I came to the U.S. through the humanitarian parole program. Regarding this form, my mother (the sponsor) is filling out the I-864 as a green card holder, and my sister is completing the I-864A as a household member—she's a U.S. citizen. They’ve been asked the same question. Do they need to respond based on their current status or income? I’m a bit confused because I’m not sure how this all ties together. Appreciate any help!
  6. You're right, but we don't have a joint sponsor. From what I understand based on the instructions for Form I-864, my mom, as the petitioner, will complete the I-864, and my sister, as a household member, will fill out the I-864A. In this case, their finances will be combined, including my mom's assets and my sister's income. But I could be wrong, so I appreciate any clarification on this. I’m very stressed about that and would be so grateful for your help!
  7. Unfortunately, we can't find a joint sponsor. Do you think we would get a RFE to provide a joint sponsor even with my mother’s assets, combined with my sister’s tax return?
  8. Does my son need to answer "yes" to the same question as well? or he can answer "no" since he's just a derivative applicant (my mother didn't fill a separate I-130 petition for him)
  9. Hello, I'm not sure if I’m posting this in the right place, but I’m filling out Form 864. In question number 7, which asks for my income, should I report my total income from Line 9 or my gross income from Line 11 of my Form 1040? Or, should I provide my expected annual income for this year based on my working hours and pay rate?
  10. Thanks for your response. My apologies for posting in the wrong forum—I’m new to the system and still can't find the appropriate one. Since I’m in a bit of a hurry to submit the forms, I mistakenly posted here. To clarify, my mother is a green card holder (lawful permanent resident).
  11. Thank you so much for your quick response! Yes, I did submit both the DS-260 and I-864 to the visa center, so I believe the correct answer to the question is "yes." However, I’m unsure how to respond to the follow-up questions asking for the decision and the date of the decision, since I never received a decision or had an interview. Could you advise me on how to address these fields? Also, regarding my son, I understand that he is considered a derivative applicant (he’s under 16). While I didn’t submit a separate DS-230 for him, I did include his name as my child in the DS-260 application. Since he is also in the process of adjusting his status now and is filling out his own I-485 application , does he need to answer "yes" to the same question as well?
  12. My mother, who is the petitioner of my approved case I-130, retired last year and now only receives social security income, which is not taxable, so she won’t be filing a tax return for the year 2024. However, she will still complete and submit the I-864. My sister, a household member, is willing to sign the I-864A, though her income doesn’t meet the required threshold. Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to find a joint sponsor. However, my mother has savings, which could consider as assets, that are more than five times the difference between our total household income and the current requirement income. Do you think my mother’s assets, combined with my sister’s tax return, would satisfy the financial requirements, or would we still need to find a joint sponsor?
  13. Hi. I’ve encountered a few questions while filling out Form I-485 and would really appreciate your insight. When I was living in my home country, my mother filed an I-130 petition for me, and it was approved (back in 2012). We also filed l DS-260, and I-864 forms to the visa center in 2022, but no interview. Then, in 2023, I moved to the US through the humanitarian parole program and currently in the process of adjusting my status. Since I was never called for an interview, I’m unsure how to answer the question below, and I don’t have a decision or date of decision as requested in the next question. Any suggestions? Question: “Have you ever applied for an immigrant visa to obtain permanent resident status at a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate abroad?”
