    To be clear, my post was specific to Cambodia. I am not suggesting that an engagement ceremony could not be a problem elsewhere. But I did not imagine that I have read these absolute comments on VJ. Here is a recent thread: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/823629-can-i-really-do-this-on-my-ownand-a-couple-of-questions-i-am-worried-about/page/2/#comments This thread contains many absolute statements, such as “100%, you are not eligible for K-1, you do not qualify, etc.” My recent experience in Cambodia showed a different view of an engagement ceremony, and I wanted to point this out.

    I have often read on VJ that having an engagement ceremony will guarantee a denial for a K1 Fiancé Visa. This statement is frequently repeated as fact, but it was not true for our K1 case in Cambodia. We had an elaborate engagement ceremony, consistent with Khmer culture, and we included several pictures as proof of our relationship. During her interview, my fiance was asked several questions about the ceremony, but none of these addressed it as a problem. She was asked how many people attended, why my parents were not at the ceremony, and where we traveled on our “honeymoon.” The engagement ceremony was clearly not an impediment to our K1 approval in Cambodia. It would be more accurate to tell people that the cultural norms of the country should be considered, rather than a blanket statement that an engagement ceremony will result in a K1 denial.

    The Trump bashing comments are disappointing to see on this forum. I come here for objective information about LEGAL immigration, and don’t really care to see political opinions, regardless of what they are.

    If you print out the I-129f form and the detailed instructions that accompany it, most if not all of your questions will be answered there. Good luck!

    It means on the way…showing “In Transit” status. Most get there in a few days and then show “Ready”

    I know several people are waiting on NVC to forward to their embassy, and wanted to update. I just received the K1-FTP email, so my petition was at NVC for just over 90 days. The NVC stage has been taking longer in recent months. Hope others who are waiting get good news soon.

    Sounds like time to contact your Congressperson, or an attorney. Most US representatives have a release form on their website that they have you sign, so they can make an inquiry on your behalf. My US Senator has a prominent section on his website, if you need assistance in dealing with a Federal agency. That would be a place to start.

    After holding my I-129F for over 60 days, NVC sent me a notice that contained the following: Approved Forms I-129F have a 120-day expiration date from the date of approval by USCIS. Once your designated embassy or consulate resumes normal operations, a consular officer will revalidate your petition for another 120 days. You do not need to take any action for this revalidation to happen, though you may need to provide evidence that you still qualify for the K-1 nonimmigrant visa.

    I don’t know the answer to your question, but I am at 12 weeks at NVC and waiting. Last week I got the “60 day notice” from NVC, but without any new dates included. The notice said that my visa would be extended by the embassy, and that I didn’t need to do anything. I wish you success in getting it expedited. Myself, I have stopped checking online every day, since it was becoming demoralizing. Good luck!

    Very fine detective work! I am at 2 months and have been waiting impatiently, wondering what is going on at NVC. Using your method, I was able to see the status of the 8 cases on my date: At NVC: 5 cases In Transit: 1 case Ready: 1 case Need to pay fees: 1 case At least now I can see that there is some method going on behind the curtain, as we wait. Thank you for your efforts!
