    If it’s Skype or WhatsApp, you can export the whole thing which shows “ongoing relationship.” if it’s too hard to export the whole thing, title it “selected phone calls” and include a few per month.

    That’s what you have to do. By not entering in the window, you didn’t use the visas, and you have to go through the process again. Follow embassy instructions. Email them if anything is unclear.

    it's been about mine was 3 weeks, it depends a little on when in the month you were DQ-ed. Joburg is going really fast.

    Thanks. He can't go back to his country because he will not have his passport, so there really isn't any choice as to staying there. he is not from south africa. And, still wondering how long before the interview should the exam be scheduled, ideally?

    Hi all, we were just given an interview date (yay!). a few questions: 1. How long before the interview should the medical exam be scheduled? We will have the medical exam in Johannesburg. 2. How do you deal with buying plane tickets for entry into the US? Obviously waiting until after my spouse gets the visa would get expensive, since we do not want to wait any time at all to arrive (we've been together for 10 years!) 3. We will be staying in Johannesburg throughout the interview and will not be returning to his home country. What address do we put for the courier service for the visa? Our hotel? 4. Can I (the USC) go to the interview with my spouse? Can I go to the medical with my spouse? 5. Does anyone have any experience with interpreters at the embassy in Johannesburg? Interpreters at the medical exam? Thank you!!

    Do you still need help with this? I don't have anyone who can help, but I lived in Mozambique for 7 years and would be happy to give advice.

    they can write in their native language, but it should be translated. Does not need to be translated by a professional, but by someone not related to either of you who then writes an affidavit swearing they are fluent in both languages. The letters need the writers' ids as well.

    Hi all, We are finally to the stage where we can start thinking about the interview. My husband's "home" consulate/embassy for this is in a neighboring country, which does not have his native language as an official language. Our lawyer has advised that he can bring an interpreter. It does not need to be a sworn interpreter, just someone who is not part of the family but who is able to take an oath at the consulate/embassy saying they are fluent in both his native language and English. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Other experiences with someone who is interviewing outside of their home/country of record?

    Our lawyer told us to mark "yes" on the DS-260 because in our case, the medical happens before the interview and they will deal with the documentation then.

    Just received intel from our lawyer for those going through South Africa - looks like processing times are pretty quick (no more than 3 months)
