Just got notices in email that action was taken and signed in to the web page and it shows approved 751 and notice that she was in queue for oath ceremony. She had her interview this morning.

Yea her whole interview was bizarre. Not sure if he just got training on abuse and was trying to push it or what. There also was an official in another cube yelling at a women and she was crying. Not sure what was going on there.

My wife had her N400 interview today. I think it was a combo but she didn't really know and they didn't ask to talk to me at all. They spent 5 minutes on the citizenship questions and exam. Then they pulled up my Facebook page and asked her who 6 women were that commented on my posts. She didn't know any of them as like 80% of my Facebook friends are not really people I know but friend me for my business. The interviewer then spent 25 minutes grilling her over my ex wife's asking stuff like did I know one of my wife's was short like her. I am don't even know how they would know the height of my ex's. I don't talk about my past life so she didn't know anything about them but told them I was just outside if they wanted to talk to me. They said no they were just asking for her protection. Then they said her should would be protected from domestic violence when she signs the oath of allegiance. Then they asked her about my hobbies and my favorite foods. This was strange too as she could have said anything because they didn't interview me at all to know the answers. Wanted to know who was the mother of one of her children. Asked why our kids changed their last name to mine (I had done a step-parent adoption) It's like the only documents he looked at was the divorce papers from previous marriages. Wanted to know why I was still using an old email that had my ex-wife's last name. (it was actually my old name and I had been using it for 15 years) I just couldn't figure out what he was going for with all these questions. I don't think any interview I read about had them asking questions like this. In the end they said she was approved. So now 4-6 weeks for the oath appointment. I am glad this stuff is all over.

Just notified that her interview is scheduled for July 19th in Louisville. No movement on the removal of conditions. Hopefully they do both that day.

Strange the case dropped from the our account. That and the removal of conditions. Had to use the online lookup instead. Wonder what happened there. Hopefully it shows back up next week.

Because in 20 years when you are not around and they don't renew their passport it might be extremely hard to gather all the paperwork needed to get approved again. It's not like a native born that just needs a birth certificate.

ours is Louisville and we have had no progress on our case. The average for 5 years is showing 3 months but we are 3 years so I wonder if those are going to the bottom of the pile. Congrats on getting yours

I think to change your name on your official documents like SSN you just need your birth certificate and divorce paperwork.

Not true at all. People cross the border all the time without a passport. Heck you can take cruises with just a birth certificate. And yes there is a Supreme Court decision that states US Citizens have an absolute right to return to the country.

If you read the full case you would notice that the case was never approved. The OP has been approved. It also specifically states that the person couldn't appeal but they could file another N-600 "[D]enial due to abandonment does not preclude the filing of a new application or petition with a new fee[.] A better example for the current OP's situation is this case. The person failed to appear 4 times after his approval and then claimed that the taking of the oath wasn't needed. ?? The case is approved. The darn message on the site states "Your Form N-600, Application for Certificate of Citizenship, has been approved." You just need to sign for the document or if over 14 take the oath, regardless it is approved. I am going to assume you have never applied for the N600. I have done two. One had to take the oath (over 14) and the other didn't (under 14). Also as I have said numerous times on this site it's not "One Shot" you can only file one N600 but you can file a motion to reopen the case with new evidence you can also request the time be changed due to your circumstances.

Do it now before the price increase by $215 I think in March. Yea it is expensive and takes a while. I think it was 9 months for one of my daughters. Get a fire and waterproof lock box to keep it in once you get it. It costs $500 or more to replace. While you may have all the paperwork now and a passport, who knows in 30 years after the passport has been expired for years. They may have issues proving citizenship.

If you are outside the US and need to submit you can probably do what I did for the N-600 and place the photo on a white paper and scan that in, front and back of photo with the a number. I didn't have any issues doing that.
