Congrats on everything working in your favor. Wish you guys the best of luck. word of advice. Don’t depend on the ssn check box on the visa application to work 100 percent. Be very proactive with the ssa. Give it a week after arrival and go to the local office and find out if a number has been issue. If not, immediately apply for the number. being all documents and ss5 application ready to go just in case. They told me to wait and it never happen. Proactive is the key.

Then it should be anytime now. I have a timeline inside my notes on my timeline page documenting when I got everything. It will even include the dates on when it became issued and when we received it from Dahl for some peace of mind

Yeah there isn’t really much you can do but wait. It also makes a difference on what they want from you. They may have to do more careful consideration depending on what document was requested. Because mine was a simple divorce decree with a raised seal. If they needed to they could have easily called the county clerk to verify. If it’s something more extensive then a longer wait time.

So when it got to the embassy. I think it took less than a week. They kept screwing around with the status. The thing you have to look for is the last time modified. It will stay refused until it isn’t but what I looked for is when they were looking at it. I think the date and time modified changed three times before it was issued

I would say just shy of a month because we had to get the document from the United States. Took about two weeks for the document to make its way to Colombia and about a week and a half for it to make it to the embassy for reconsideration. We sent the document off from Medellin. So if you are in bogota. You can hand deliver it quicker.

It's very sad that things have come to you going behind backs because no one will do their job correctly. Makes everything very frustrating. I ran into the same issue with getting a military id card for my wife. When I went to thr first office in beafort, sc. They told me that she needed a ssn to recieve the id card. I got the ssn and returned again bit went to cherry point nc They told me that they could have given my wife her id card first time go except the lady didn't process the application correctly. She told the application that she was a foreigner in another country and not a green card holder. Something to that degree. So they had different rules processing the id card.

It is just irritating that the government are the ones that set the rules and they can't seem to coordinate with anyone from all 50 states and say "doing this might cause issues for the new immigrant" red flag or something. Here is the other issue. North Carolina issues their IDs and Driver's License from central location which is in Raleigh. So, they give you a paper copy of the card to show that you have registered with the state, but they also tell you that not many people will consider that a real ID card because it is only the paper copy. Companies have the right to refuse it and its a hit and miss when you try to use it. They they told me that I might have a longer wait than usual because they have to process the refugees first and put the other visa classifications on the backburner. Not saying that refugees are not legal, but they should wait in line like everyone else. So, this is what I have to do. I mean its only a 45 minuet drive each way and it cost money and time each time you achieve a step. 1. Once I get the green card, then I have to go back to the DMV with the card to upgrade it to Real ID. 2. I also have to get a new card when she wants to get her permit. So, the NC ID will be converted to the NC Driver's Permit. 3. Once she is done with the permit, then we have to go back and get the permit changed to a full fledged driver's license. Each time this is done. You have to drive, spend money and time and actually wait weeks to get the physical copy in the mail each time. He said that the state id without the real id will be fine. It is fine for her because she has a military dependent ID card she can use to fly. Also, they are not in a real big hurry to fix it because real ID doesn't go into affect till May 2025. My question would be.. what happens when May 2025 comes around and people are complaining about how insanely difficult it is to get something you should be entitled to in the first place coming in the legal way. You have already been vetted by the US Immigration and SSA.

Just got back from the North Carolina DMV for my wife's ID Card. I wanted to get the real ID, but didn't get it because of the ignorance of immigration status and laws set. There were two options. 1. I-551 green card. 2. Valid, Unexpired Foreign Passport with unexpired visa and a I-94. Because I have the Temp I-551 CR1 visa with the endorsement, he was asking me for the I-94. I kept telling him that she didn't get one because the visa turns into a green card and isn't required for permanent residents. So, now I have to wait for the physical green card just to prove I was right all along. They didn't take thr time to read the visa and what it had to say. It gets so frustrating when government agencies don't talk to one another or people want to be incompetent and ignorant by not listening to the customer at hand.

My wife came in on December 5th 2023. I even checked the box on thr DS260. I waited till January 18 and went to SSA and they told me her information was not in the computer. I waited one week and returned with the SS5, Passport with CR1 visa, and her birth certificated with translation We filed on January 28th. We received her SSN number today and that was with a holiday on Monday. My suggestion is wait a week. Go into the SSA office with those following documents. If she is not in the system ask them to order one for you. Do not wait thr three weeks like i did. Another thing you will run into is that most people are very ignorant with the Temp I-551 with the visa and endorsement. When they hear green card, they only know about thr physical card. Prepare to fight with people.

My wife entered on December 5th. I waited 2 weeks and went to the SSA office and they had no record of my wife in their computers. I went yesterday and filed for her SSA Card even after checking the box on the DS-260. I was able to apply for the SSA card online. I cannot put the link down because they disabled my copy and paste from the website. Just type in google "First Time SSA Card" I did this and also brought a paper copy with me to the SSA office. I also brought her Passport, Visa FOIL and the endorsement stamp turning her visa into a green card. I also included the foreign birth certificate with translation. Took them 5 minutes to input all the information into the computers and told to wait 2 weeks.

DS-260: Checked the box to have DHS send the information to SSA to produce a card after POE entry. 12/05/2023 Entered MIA 12/18/2023 Stopped by Myrtle Beach SSA to verify information. Was non-existent. 12/21/2023 Called SSA Main Number, Hold for 1 hour and spoke with someone incompetent of the immigration services, was put on hold 4 times, extra 35 min and still got nothing to work with 12/28/2023 Decided to go to local SSA Office without an appointment. Brought the SSA 5 application, Passport with Visa and Visa Stamp, foreign birth certificate and its translation. Asked the women if she could double check the computers again to see if the information was transferred. No luck. The women took the SS5 and applied for the SSA card manually. Took about 5 min and was told to wait two weeks for the verification and delivery of the card. I would say give it a week and go to the SSA office with SS5 filled out, Passport with Visa stamp and their birth certificate (translated just incase). Check to see if your information is entered into the computer automatically from the DS-260. If it is not, request that they order a SSA number instead of waiting longer.

I went on the 7th to get her a military ID card and the lady pissed me off. This was the one on the Air Station in Beaufort, SC. She went on to tell me that everything was on the internet and that I should have looked everything up before coming to the office. Then, not even 10 minuets later she has her big ### binder out looking up the primary and secondary IDs. I am thinking to myself. If this is your job and you have the gall to tell someone that they made a mistake, but then you just then become a hypocrite. One of the primary forms was the international passport. Then, a second form would be a green card. I told her that the endorsement on the visa created the green card. She told me that she couldn't do it because it was inside of the passport. So, because it was inside of the passport, she couldn't use the visa as a secondary. Civilians sometimes, I dunno. So, I told her that i read on the internet that they could give a temp military ID card while waiting for the SSN. She told me that only active duty can do that and I am sure that she means overseas. She was able to enter all her information into the computer, but could not issue the military ID card because of no SSN. Because i was fighting a loosing battle. I just gave up. I am just going to deal with it at the base that I officially live near by. since, I should receive the SSN within 2 weeks of entering. The main reason why I wanted the military ID card is because North Carolina requires 2 sets of ID card and I could have used that one. sometimes I think that people hardly question the system. They didn't know what a catch 22 was when it came to documents. My wife had her national ID card from Colombia. The lady at the office told me that she couldn't use it because it needed to be translated to english. Clearly if you study the card you could figure out everything on the card. I don't know. Sometimes I shake my head when it comes to things. why was i being yelled at about not checking the website for requirements when "she" herself had to look them up herself and that was her main job.

Has anyone every been successful in getting a military dependent ID card for their wife without a SSN? I would like for her to get something after she enters in on a CR1 visa. Wait time for an SSN number varies to much. To much uncertainty.

I would like to get my wife coming from Colombia on a CR1 visa setup in the system to be conditionally approved. As quickly as possible because I plan to make a trip back to Colombia a few months after first entry and I would like to be conditionally approved so that when we return she can finish the process. Would I need to wait for the green card to arrive in the mail or is that information I need to register for Global entry located on her CR1 immigrant visa? Or, is the green card number used to register with global entry. Is that generated as the card is being produce or do they take the previous numbers attached to my wife's visa and file and use that as the green card number?
